What happens to a woman’s body during pregnancy

A woman is a creature from another planet. There is nothing else to explain what happens to the body of each of us during pregnancy and after childbirth. So many changes … Sometimes it seems that you are just becoming a different person. Maybe not?

Pregnancy leaves all kinds of traces in a woman’s body. Literally everything changes: hair, breast size, skin, even foot size. We are not talking about hormones, stretch marks and mood changes. And then scientists (British, yes, just don’t laugh) found out that even a woman’s voice changes with the birth of a baby. He becomes more … courageous.

Scientists from the University of Sussex conducted not to say a very large-scale study. It covered only 20 mothers. But among them were singers and actresses, journalists, and other celebrities. Their voices were compared to those of women in a control group – those who had never given birth. And as a result, they found that after giving birth, the voice of a young mother becomes lower by about half a tone.

“We analyzed video recordings of interviews made five years before pregnancy and compared them with actual audio,” explained the head of the study, Dr. Kasia Pizanski.

This effect was called “vocal masculinization”, that is, the voice becomes a little like a man’s.

– This effect is not permanent, it lasts for about a year. It seems that everything is due to the specifics of the hormonal system, scientists reassure.

By the way, it is possible that young mothers subconsciously themselves modulate the voice so that it becomes lower.

“Research has already shown that people with low voices tend to be considered more competent, mature and authoritative,” scientists say.

By the way, there is another study that assures: children like low voices more than high voices. Baritone, especially soft lyric, or even bass, act on babies as a sleeping pill.
