Self-pasting photowall-paper saves money. But for its implementation, certain tools are needed:
- long ruler or level;
- pencil and stationery knife;
- wide and narrow brushes;
- rubber roller and spatula for pasting wallpaper;
- container for glue.
If you don’t get everything ready at once, you will waste time looking for the right things.
Before gluing the coating, you need to prepare the walls. To do this, they are putty and covered with a primer. If you do not know whether it is possible to glue photo wallpaper on the wallpaper, then the answer is unequivocal: no. The texture of the bottom layer will show through on the topcoat, the pattern may also appear, and their service life will be reduced.
What glue to glue the wallpaper on
Depending on the type of photowall-paper, the glue on which they are attached is selected. Basically, the coating can have a paper or non-woven backing. The most commonly used glue for pasting heavy vinyl wallpaper. It will provide reliable fastening and a long service life of photowall-paper.
Dilute the glue according to the instructions. The peculiarities of its preparation, application to wallpaper and drying time depend on the manufacturer and the type of adhesive.
When the surface of the wall is ready, you can start pasting. The whole process consists of several stages:
- using a level and a pencil, mark the wall on which the wallpaper will be attached;
- dilute the glue;
- apply it to the wall and wallpaper;
- fold the piece with the processed side inward for 10-15 minutes;
- attach the canvas of photo wallpaper to the marked place as evenly as possible;
- smooth the surface with a rubber roller and a spatula;
- proceed with gluing the next canvas.
Do not use fabric cuts for smoothing, as they may damage the pattern.
The most difficult thing in the work is to dock the canvases of the photowall-paper, so that the drawing perfectly matches. Often, manufacturers produce a coating immediately with empty strips for overlapping gluing. When the canvases are connected together, move the left edge and cut a colorless strip with a knife. Wall murals dry out for 2-3 days, during this period, do not open the windows so that there is no draft.
Pasting photo wallpaper is a relatively simple process. If you follow all the recommendations, the decorative coating will serve you for a long time.
