What does UC or 9C error mean on a Samsung washing machine

The Samsung washing machine sometimes issues error codes UC, 9C, 9E1, 9E2, which indicate problems with electricity.

These codes appear on different Samsung models and signal the same problem. There may be slight differences in details.

To know how to fix the problem and remove the error, you first need to understand the causes of the Samsung CMA malfunction.

When an error occurs

To determine what the UC error means, you need to find out when it is shown on the display. Samsung washing machine gives an error:

  • After the start of the wash, when the hatch is blocked and you press the start button;
  • After the first set of water;
  • After heating the heating element;
  • During the spin cycle, when the drum is just starting to spin.

Error 9C on the display may appear at any other time during operation. The solution to the problem depends on correctly identifying the cause.

What do the error codes on the scoreboard say?

Error 9E1, 9E2, 9C, UC indicates problems with the power supply. If the washing machine encounters an increase or decrease in voltage, then during the washing process it shows an error.

Error 9E2 lights up on the display of the washing machine when the abnormal voltage is fixed for 30 seconds.

Samsung washing machine models released before 2012 did not respond to power surges from 175 to 270 V. Today, models are being produced that have ultra-sensitive surge protectors. Therefore, many residents of small settlements faced the question of how to fix the problem when the 9E1 indication occurred.

With a short power surge, the UC code disappears by itself. The washing machine continues the washing program automatically.

Why the error occurs

When 9E2 is displayed on the display of the washing machine, the reasons for this are:

  • Faults in the socket;
  • Use of an unsuitable or low-quality extension cord;
  • A sharp jump in voltage;
  • Not corresponding to the standard voltage in the network;
  • Short-term failure in the control unit of the machine;
  • Malfunctions in the control module.

When the UC error is on, you can often fix it on your own. Sometimes it is necessary to involve the master in the work, because a breakdown has occurred.

How to fix the problem

The error can be reset by simply “rebooting” the washer – after that it will be found out whether the fault code will reappear. For this you need:

  • Turn off the washer by pressing the appropriate button and unplugging the cord from the outlet;
  • Wait 5 minutes;
  • Plug it in and start the washing machine again.

If after that the machine works and no longer issues a UC code, then it was a short-term power failure. If the code is on the display again, then you need to look further for the cause in order to eliminate the malfunction.

What to do if the previous steps didn’t help

To eliminate the displayed UC code, you need to:

  • Check the power supply and its voltage. For this purpose, it is better to contact an electrician;
  • Install a voltage stabilizer to compensate for voltage drops;
  • Check the socket and wiring for serviceability;
  • Remove the extension cord (if the machine is connected to the network through it) and connect directly to the outlet. The outlet must be protected from moisture so that you are not shocked.

If, after all the checks, the washing machine continues to indicate a power failure, then the problem is in a faulty control module. And here you can’t do without calling the master.
