What does the red spot in the eye indicate? Why could a red spot appear on the eye? Could this be a symptom of serious eye problems? Is this a symptom that you should not be concerned about? What is the treatment of the red spot? The question is answered by the drug. Anna Mitschke.
What does the red spot in the eye indicate?
Hello. A few days ago she showed up at my place red spot on the eye. It’s even hard for me to say when and where it came from, because one day, just looking in the mirror, I noticed that I have such a small red spot on my eye. So the lesion appeared for no apparent reason and is located on the left eye. Let me add that I don’t wear glasses or lenses, I have good eyesight, and I don’t remember rubbing my eye or otherwise damaging it myself. What does the red spot on the eye show?
Could I somehow make the red spot appear on my eye? I have already read contradictory information, from such suggesting serious eye diseases, to information that such a red spot on the eye is completely harmless and appears on its own. Could I count on information as to what it really is? My next question is what it is treatment of the red spot on the eye? If it is not a symptom of a disease, will it go away on its own? And if not, are there any methods of removing the red spot from the eye? What exactly should I do now, because I have big doubts, and on the other hand, I’m worried about my eyesight. Regards, Maria
The doctor advises what to do in the case of the red spot on the eye
The described red spot in the eye is probably a subconjunctival hemorrhage. It is a common condition that many patients struggle with. This condition may be due to several reasons. The outer part of the sclera is covered with a thin, transparent mucosa – it is the conjunctiva of the eyeball. The conjunctiva is richly vascularized by tiny blood vessels. Occasionally, delicate vessels will rupture, causing blood to bleed under the conjunctiva.
Sometimes the conjunctiva is bulged. Down ruptures of blood vessels it may occur as a result of coughing, sneezing, vomiting, constipation, sudden increase in blood pressure, or during intense exercise. Usually, invasive procedures on the eyeball result in a subconjunctival haemorrhage. Any mechanical injuries of the eye, skull injuries can lead to rupture of the conjunctival vessels. Another reason may be conjunctivitis.
Often not found causes of subconjunctival hemorrhage. Some patients are predisposed to develop subconjunctival hemorrhages. These are patients with diabetes, hypertension or blood coagulation disorders. Extravasation of blood occurs more frequently in the elderly, whose vessels are more susceptible to damage. For patients who wear contact lenses, care should be taken when putting them on and taking them off.
The lenses can put excessive pressure on your eyeball. Typically, subconjunctival haemorrhages resolve spontaneously within two weeks and do not require treatment. The time for them to clear up is similar to that of common “bruises”, or bloody rushes. If the subconjunctival hematoma persists longer, medical monitoring is recommended. You can use drops that moisturize the surface of the eye and preparations that strengthen the walls of blood vessels with rutin derivatives. In case of pain or visual disturbances, consultation with an ophthalmologist is necessary.
