What does left testicle pain indicate? Testicular pain can be a symptom of what diseases? Is regular pain in the left testicle a cause for concern? Should you contact your doctor? The question is answered by the drug. Katarzyna Darecka.
What does left testicle pain indicate?
Good day. I am 45 years old and my problem is quite embarrassing for me, and at the same time it worries me a lot. For several days I have been feeling pain in the left testicle. At the very beginning it was not a very big pain – my left testicle hurt for several minutes, and then the ailments stopped. It is true that my testicles never hurt before, but I decided it was some kind of temporary neuralgia. Since then, the pain in my left testicle has become more frequent – sometimes it is stronger, sometimes quite severe, to the point where it radiates to my left groin and makes it difficult for me to walk.
It worries me because I didn’t have any trauma to the left testicle, I am sexually active, but I have never had such problems. What does the pain in the left testicle show? Could such regular pain in the left testicle be a sign of some serious illness, or is it nothing serious after all? I don’t even know which doctor to go to with a sore testicle – the family doctor probably won’t know what to do with it. I am asking for help and advice, because the pain in my left testicle is getting worse and I don’t know what to do. Thank you in advance for your help and every tip.
The doctor explains the causes of testicular pain
A doctor who normally deals with testicular diseases is a urologist, but it is always worth visiting your GP first – he will be able to conduct a thorough interview about pain and other comorbidities, but also thoroughly examine the area around the testicles and decide whether to include some specific treatment, implements further diagnostics or perhaps refers you to a specialist.
The causes of testicular pain there may be many, and the pain may radiate there as well, not just begin. The causes of testicular pain may be testicular torsion (pain is usually sudden and very intense), epididymitis, testicular hydrocele, inguinal hernia, nephrolithiasis, mumps, testicular inflammation, prostatitis, testicular damage, urinary tract inflammation and varicocele .
It is worth visiting a doctor especially when the pain appears suddenly, very intense – it may be a sign of testicular torsion, which is a sudden condition and requires the fastest possible treatment to prevent testicular loss. Testicular torsion can occur in men at any age, but it is more common in adolescents and young adults. It is also worth making an appointment with a doctor if the testicular pain is accompanied by nausea, fever and chills or there is blood in the urine. If the pain in the testicle of moderate intensity lasts more than a few days and you notice a bulging or swelling of the testicle or tissues around it, then it is also worth visiting a doctor.
It is difficult to say whether regular testicular pain is a symptom of a more serious condition. This can only be confirmed by a doctor who will carefully examine the patient. The testicles are a very delicate organ and even a small injury that we may not even remember can cause testicular pain and discomfort in the scrotal area. Pain, in addition to a possible cause in the testicle itself, can also start in the epididymis or groin, and even in the abdominal cavity. However, it is not always possible to identify the cause of testicular pain, we call it idiopathic testicular pain, i.e. testicular pain for no apparent reason.
