A team of students and engineers from Moscow Polytechnic University presented a new MIG R2 electric motorcycle, which will go to participate in the Baikal Mile festival of speed on ice in extreme conditions, which will be held from March 9 to 13, 2022 at Lake Baikal.

The power of the new electric bike is several times higher than the previous models – MIG R 2020 and MIG V 2019. Engineers have eliminated all the shortcomings of last year related to the battery and electronics. In addition, the MIG R2 is much lighter, more agile and faster than its predecessors.

A team of 20 people worked on the development of the electric bike, two thirds of them are students of the Moscow Polytechnic University. The French engine oil manufacturer Motul and IRZ TEK acted as external experts. It is noted that the improvements will allow you to drive the MIG R2 not only on ice, but also on other surfaces – you can even get a sports passport on a motorcycle and participate in motorcycle competitions on it.

3D printing technologies were used during the creation of the motorcycle, primarily in the manufacture of battery holders.

Thanks to the built-in telemetry system, the bike can be monitored remotely, including speed, position and battery voltage.

The developers plan that the new version will be able to break the ice speed record set in 2020 – 210,6 km / h.

“This year we plan to break our own achievement and set a new speed record on an electric motorcycle on ice, created specifically for the festival, and record the achievement in the Book of Records of our country,” said Pablo Emilio, Dean of the Faculty of Transportation, Head of the Engineering Development Center of the Moscow Poly, Iturralde Bakero Pablo Emilio.
