What does the dream mean: “I do not dare to cross the road”

The other side of the road, like the other side of the river, in our dreams often means a transition to something new in life.

Vasilisa’s dream, 25 years old

“I need to cross the road, but there is no crossing. This is a simple dream, but with different variations it has been repeated for several years. Sometimes there is a crossing, and I clearly see white stripes, but the cars do not stop, they go in both directions. The flow is so dense that even up to the middle there is no chance to run. And sometimes, on the contrary, the movement is quite moderate, but I cannot cross because there is no transition, because it will be a transition in the wrong place, and I am afraid that I will be fined for this.

Interpretation

Every month, Jungian analyst Stanislav Raevsky deciphers the pictures you saw in your dreams.

“The other side of the road, like the other side of the river, in our dreams often means a transition to another world. You are afraid of the transition to something new in your life. You are afraid of “not sailing”, in the case of a road, you are afraid that you will be punished: a car will hit you or you will be fined. It seems that you have many fears, and the main one is the fear of change. Perhaps your life path intersects with someone else’s path, and you do not want to cross this other person’s path. Or you have your own way, but you are afraid to move not in the stream, but across it. Maybe you are too constrained by the rules that you were inspired a long time ago, and do not dare to take risks.

Machines are mechanisms. There is probably something mechanical in your life that keeps your soul from developing, a mechanical flow at work or in a relationship. Often people lose the feeling of life, making it a mechanical flow, in which every next day is similar to the previous one.

This recurring dream torments you, but you can try to change it. Use the active imagination technique. Watch the dream further and ask yourself: why am I so attached to the place where I stand? Explore what is behind you in a dream. Continue down the side of the road and look for an underpass or an underpass with traffic lights. What happens if you find them as a result?

Or you can imagine how someone in the stream of cars decided to help you and slowed down, letting you through. What then awaits you on the other side? Free your imagination and imagine where you will end up, how your life will turn out, how you yourself will change if you cross this road?

Recurring dreams reflect an event that happened in the past that caused us great mental pain, or they try to draw our attention to a key question that we are looking for an answer to. Perhaps if in your imagination, Vasilisa, you manage to cross the road in some way, the dream may change, and life will change after it.
