What can a stinging in the right side mean? Which organ may be causing the pain? What tests are worth doing when we feel pain in the right side? The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski.
Why do we feel a stinging in the right side?
Hello. I am 56 years old and for a long time I have been feeling a lot of discomfort in my right side, namely a stinging in my right side. Stinging and pain occur very often after eating a heavy meal, I like to eat a lot, I like meat in all its forms. It happens that when I feel a prickling in my right side I also get a feeling of fullness, and it often reflects me too.
Which means stabbing in the right side? What organ may be the problem with? I am thinking of visiting a specialist, but I do not know exactly what to sign up for or go to the general practitioner first, or maybe I should do an ultrasound of the abdominal cavity before the visit? I have done blood tests a long time ago to see if at least a basic set of tests should be performed with such ailments.
Of course, I am aware that the stinging in the right side may be the result of an incorrect diet, so I want to include more vegetables and fruits in my daily menu, but does changing the way you prepare meals affect how I feel? I am asking for an honest answer, what should I do so that the stinging in my right side does not bother me anymore.
The doctor indicates what may be causing the pain in the right side
Dear sir, the symptoms mentioned may indicate cholelithiasis or possibly cholelithiasis. Sharp, stinging pain that appears or intensifies after eating fatty foods is characteristic of this type of disease. The pain results from the pressure of the deposit on the walls of the gallbladder or bile duct during bile secretion.
In a situation where bile flow is completely blocked there is an attack of very severe pain. In such situations, diastolic drugs, such as drotaverine, which by relaxing smooth muscles, enable the flow of bile into the duodenum, turn out to be beneficial. Unfortunately, there are situations when no painkillers or diastolic drugs help and only surgical treatment, consisting in excision of the gallbladder, remains.
Of course, I am not suggesting that your case is gallstone disease. First, you should go to your GP who will carefully examine you and collect your medical history. As a standard, if follicular stones are suspected, an ultrasound of the abdominal cavity should be performed with a careful assessment of the gallbladder and bile ducts. During the examination, the doctor also assesses other organs, including the liver and kidneys, whose conditions may also be manifested by pain in the right side.
Liver problems may appear when its capsule is irritated, for example as a result of the development of a tumor, abscess or inflammation. Apart from the ultrasound examination, laboratory tests should be performed, including blood counts and measurement of the concentration of CRP protein, which indicates the presence of inflammation in the human body.
As I mentioned, kidney disease can also present as pain in the right side. First of all, it is necessary to consider nephrolithiasis or ureteral stones. If there is a suspicion of a stone in the ureter, an ultrasound scan is of little help. In this situation, it is worth taking an X-ray of the lower spine, because most of the stones are calcified and will be visible during the examination.
