What is the pain under the right shoulder blade related to? Could pain under the scapula mean recurrence of back problems? What is worth doing in such a situation? Which specialist should you go to? The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski.
What is the pain under the right shoulder blade?
Hello. I am 49 years old and have a problem that is starting to bother me more and more, and I do not know where to look for the cause. I have been feeling it for a few or a dozen days pain under the right shoulder blade, I cannot say when, because the pain under the scapula increases every day and lasts longer. Sometimes I have the feeling that the pain is moving and I feel it in the middle of my back, exactly between the shoulder blades.
A few years ago I had a major spine surgery, I had a crushed vertebra which was causing pressure, could this be the reason or is it possible that after a few years my back problems have recovered? I also started going to the gym, I don’t train hard, but so far I haven’t done it at all, so maybe even one or two visits to the gym during the week also puts a strain on my body, especially on my spine.
I would like to add that I regularly visit a neurologist, I have up-to-date tests, the results of which are good. I’m starting to worry because the pain under my right shoulder blade is getting worse. I am asking for an indication of what I should do.
The doctor advises what to do in case of pain in the scapula
Sir, pain in the area of the right shoulder blade it can be caused by diseases of the spine. The pain may not be related to your old condition at all, but it may be due to the presence of a new condition. Perhaps they are degenerative changes oppressing nerve roots that cause pain. I wish you had written when the last time any was done spine imaging. You might be tempted to do one if it hasn’t been done for a long time.
For this, I suggest that you contact your neurologist. A neurological consultation can now also take place via the halodoctor.pl portal. When it comes to going to the gym, the pain in the area of the shoulder blade may result from damage to the muscle fibers, especially if you haven’t exercised at all. In addition to neuromuscular causes, cardiological causes should also be considered. Ischemic heart disease, myocarditis, or pericarditis can manifest as pain between the shoulder blades.
A progressive aneurysm of the thoracic aorta can also present these symptoms. I recommend that you visit your GP. Basic laboratory tests, ECG and, as I mentioned earlier, imaging tests should be performed – apart from the spine itself, it would be good to perform a thoracic aortic aneurysm. Your GP may recommend consulting a specialist for more detailed tests, such as echocardiography of the heart or computed tomography of the chest. You definitely shouldn’t ignore such symptoms.
An EKG examination should be performed at a private Arkmedic clinic. It is a simple and quick way to assess your heart rate. Check the offer on the medonetmarket.pl portal.
