In the case of traditional visit in the clinic or medical center, the doctor issues an e-leave (e-ZLA) based on the PESEL number and data available in the system. Also, in the case of using the e-visit, the patient will receive an e-release. The issue of the availability of this service as part of telemedicine services for some time remained unclear due to the legal regulations regarding telemedicine.

Some legal and systemic aspects still constitute a barrier to the development of telemedicine, and result, inter alia, from from inconsistent regulations. Some facilitation appeared only on the occasion of the coronavirus pandemic, when remote issuing of e-exemptions turned out to be an effective solution that allowed people suspected of COVID-19 to stay at home.

Medical interview during e-visit and receipt of sick leave

A patient communicating with a doctor remotely should be properly prepared for the television visit. It is primarily about collecting all the information that may be important for a doctor in order to efficiently carry out the diagnostic process, give recommendations or write an e-prescription.

During the e-visit, the doctor will conduct full medical history with the patient. He will pay attention to the patient’s general health, symptoms and ailments, medications taken by him, and, if necessary, ask about the history of the disease or the results of laboratory and imaging tests. Based on the collected data, the doctor may conclude that it is necessary to issue an e-certificate.

Sick leave on the phone and online

If the doctor decides to issue a sick leave to the patient during a television visit, he will do so via the computer system in which the patient’s data are provided. After the connection is established, the doctor may wish to verify the patient’s identity on the basis of the PESEL number, thanks to which he will be able to find the relevant information in the system.

If we have used the services of a given service provider before, the doctor will find information on the patient’s previous treatment in the system. There will also be information on insurance and employers, so it takes a short time to issue a sick leave.
