What does error F17 mean in a Bosch washing machine

If the self-diagnosis system of the Bosch washing machine gave error F17 on the display, you need to start decoding it. Outwardly, the malfunction is expressed as follows: you turned on the washer, launched the program, but you do not hear the sound of water filling.

Electronic models show error F17 on the display.

On models without a screen, the RPM lights flash (light up) at 800 or 1000 + the “Rinse” light.

Causes and solutions to the problem

If the error code F 17 is on the Bosch washing machine display, this means that the time to fill the tank has been exceeded. A fault code may appear both at the beginning of the wash cycle and before the rinse cycle.

Note! For some Bosch washing machines, error F17 is referred to as code E17.

What does the error mean, you figured it out – now you need to understand how to fix it. To do this, we will understand the reasons for the appearance:

  • Shut off (or not fully open) supply valve. As a result, water either does not enter the tank at all, or the pressure is too small (less than 1 atm.), So the time to set is running out. Check the valve, unscrew it completely. If everything worked out, and the error was reset, then you have found the cause.
  • Clogged filter or water supply hose. The mesh filter is located at the junction of the hose with the Bosch machine. Disconnect and flush the hose, then remove and clean the filter.
  • Electronic controller failure. When this happens, you need to restart the Bosch CM by completely de-energizing for 20 minutes, and then turning it on. Error F17 disappeared – problem solved.

Fault location

Your Bosch washing machine gives error F17, no water is drawn, while all filters and hoses are checked. Proceed to inspect the internal parts of the washer.

What can cause the DTC to appear:

Inlet valve

Before checking the valve, turn off the water supply and disconnect the machine from electricity.

  • Disconnect the hoses from the intake valves. Pre-prepare a container for draining water.
  • Remove the top panel by unscrewing the two screws.
  • Disconnect the connectors from the valve coil.
  • Remove clamps and disconnect hoses.
  • After unscrewing the fixing screw, remove the valve.
  • Inspect it for damage or blockage.
  • Installation of the part is carried out in the reverse order.

If, after replacing the valve, it was possible to solve the problem and remove the error code F 17, then everything worked out.

Pressure sensor (pressure switch)

The pressure sensor controls the amount of water in the tank, after which it sends data to the control module, which starts the washing program. When the pressure switch fails, it either gives incorrect readings or does not work at all.

How to troubleshoot:

It is useless to repair the pressure switch, so if it breaks, immediately replace it. Video on the topic will help you:

Control module

As mentioned above, the control unit gives commands to start washing, rinsing or spinning. If moisture gets in or voltage drops, the module elements may fail. Each element is responsible for a specific part in the Bosch washer and gives them a signal to start.

To fix the breakdown, inspect the control board. To repair the contacts, you will need a solder, and the burnt elements will have to be replaced. In addition, inspect the wiring from the block to the pressure switch and inlet valve.

If the insulation is broken, the damaged wire must be replaced. Sometimes it may be necessary to completely replace the control board.
