Hello. I’m 40. A week ago I did blood tests, yesterday the results came back and it turned out I have significantly increased RDW – SD. My question is not only about the reason why RDW result – SD it may be elevated, but most of all, what exactly is RDW – SD, what role it plays in the body. Parameter RDW – SD is it analyzed as a whole together with other results or separately? My doctor gave me referral for blood testsbecause I have been very tired for a long time, even without much physical effort, I get dizzy, my relatives noticed that my skin was pale, I felt short of breath and unfortunately my libido dropped. I don’t take any medications and I don’t have any diseases. I have elevated RDW – SD in morphologybut other test results are normal, what could this mean? Should he take any dietary supplements or vitamins, maybe some specialized preparations until the visit to a specialist? A friend advised me to change my diet and introduce more fruits, leafy greens or groats, is this a reasonable solution? Please give me a hint.

RDW is the coefficient of variation in the red blood cell volume distribution. The range of correct values for the ratio is 11,5-14,5%.
