What does a red nose indicate? Why is the nose red regardless of the temperature? What could be the causes of a red nose? Can reddening of the nose be a symptom of serious diseases? The question is answered by the drug. Katarzyna Darecka.

What medical conditions does a red nose indicate?

Hello, my name is Janina and I am currently 39 years old. My question may seem a bit trivial, but it has been bothering me for quite some time. What it shows Red nose? It is not about the red nose that comes from the cold, because this reaction of the skin is completely normal for me. However, my nose is red most of the time and it is not much affected by the temperature inside or outside. I have had a red nose some time ago, but now the problem has worsened and I can’t even deal with it with foundation or concealer – nose reddening is still visible, especially on the tip.

Apparently, such a problem is often associated with acne, but I have never had problems with it. Could a red nose have any other causes? If so, what does the red nose come from? Could a red nose be a symptom of some disease? I decided to do something about my problem, but I don’t know where to start, what doctor to consult and what tests to do. I am a bit afraid that my problem will be ignored, and for me the red nose is really problematic.

The doctor explains what the red nose indicates

The cause of the symptoms may be rosacea. It is a common skin condition characterized by redness and visible capillaries in the skin of the face, and may also develop small, red, pustules filled with pus-like discharge. Rosacea is often confused with acne vulgaris, other skin diseases, and the natural “healthy” blush of the skin. Most often, this ailment affects middle-aged women with fair skin.

If there is a long-lasting blush on the skin of the face, including the nose, it is worth visiting your family doctor or going directly to a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis and order the correct treatment. however, it is always worth visiting your Family Doctor first – he or she will be able to conduct a detailed interview and conduct a physical examination, decide whether to start treatment, implement further diagnostics or refer directly to a specialist. Causes that cause redness include warm and spicy food or drinks, red wine and other alcoholic beverages, extremes of temperature, sunlight, wind, emotions, exercise, certain cosmetics, and the use of vasodilator medications, including medications for high blood pressure. In the diagnosis of rosacea, there is no specific examination that is performed to confirm the disease, diagnosis is based on the history of symptoms and the appearance of the lesions.

Treatment of rosaceadue to the ignorance of its cause, it is only symptomatic, that is, it is based on control reddening of the skin of the face. The type and duration of treatment depends on the severity of symptoms and is decided by the attending Dermatologist. Keep in mind that frequent recurrence of symptoms is something that usually occurs in the course of this disease, and to reduce the risk of occurrence, limit the situation that may cause redness of the skin mentioned above, so it is worth using SPF 30 or higher sunscreen every day on top of the prescribed by a doctor of ointments and under makeup. Do not touch or scrub your face – it may irritate it, which will result in its reddening.
