What do elevated neutrocytes indicate? Does this indicate a developing disease state in the body? Is it worth changing your lifestyle? The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski.
What do elevated neutrocytes indicate?
Hello. My name is Krystian, I’m 46 years old. I work in a managerial position in a large transport company and I struggle with many stressful situations on a daily basis. I answer, among others for shipping large batches of expensive goods abroad. For many years that was fine with me. I liked working at high speed, although it often cost me a lot of nerves. At the urging of my wife, however, I decided to get tested and it turned out that I did elevated neutrocytes? What does it even mean if the neutrocytes are elevated? What are the reasons for this? Does this mean that my body wants me to change my lifestyle?
I must admit that I have been feeling much weaker lately. I have less energy at work and I cannot work as efficiently as, for example, 5 years ago. I have no problems falling asleep, but often when I wake up I feel like my legs are heavy and it is difficult for me to motivate myself to get out of bed because I do not have enough strength. I don’t remember exactly what my result was, but my wife, looking through the test card, said that I was slightly above the norm. Is it a red light and a sign that I should change something in my life? I don’t play sports, my diet is different, but they are not healthy meals. I eat often at restaurants in the city, mostly going to Chinese restaurants. Thank you for your response. Regards.
The doctor explains what elevated neutrocytes mean
Dear sir, it is generally a river theme. Slightly elevated neutrophils most often they do not indicate anything. Slight shifts above or below the limits are very common. Apart from the results, the patient’s clinical picture is very important. Of course, I would be delighted to answer your question, but I would like to inform you in advance that you will need to see your GP.
Do causes of neutrophilia, i.e. an increased amount of neutrocytes (neutrophils) in the blood, including acute bacterial infections (this is one of the most common causes of neutrophilia), for example streptococcal angina or pneumococcal pneumonia, rheumatic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, myeloid leukemias, chronic stress situations that are associated with excessive amounts of glucocorticosteroids in the blood, massive hemorrhages. It should be remembered that in some metabolic diseases, such as diabetes and gout, the number of neutrophils may increase.
As I mentioned earlier, the result alone does not prove anything and you should perform additional laboratory tests and, above all, the doctor must examine you. Perhaps in your case, neutrophilia results from many stressful situations, but I cannot tell on the internet. As for your lifestyle and diet in particular, I think you realize that you have to make some changes. Please give up junk food and engage in regular physical activity, at least three times a week.
