What might blood clots in the urine indicate? For what reasons may there be blood in my urine? Should you see a doctor? What checkups should be performed? Which specialist is worth visiting? Could blood clots in urine be a symptom of a disease? The question is answered by the drug. Katarzyna Darecka.
What do blood clots in the urine indicate?
Good day. I am 45 years old, a woman and for some time I have been observing a condition that has been bothering me. Namely, I developed blood clots in my urine. Or rather, they did not appear, they only appear from time to time, because it does not apply to every urination. I noticed blood clots on toilet paper and in water. It is difficult to determine the frequency of their occurrence – sometimes I notice blood clots two or three times a day, for example two days in a row. Other times, I have peace of mind with it for a week and then the ailment comes back again.
I tried to connect it somehow in my head with, for example, having sex or the menstrual cycle, but I don’t think so – it seems that they are independent things. So here is my question – what do they testify to blood clots in the urine? Should I see a doctor with this or do some urine tests? I don’t even know which doctor to go to with my ailment. Could this be a symptom of some disease? Please help.
Your doctor will suggest what blood clots in your urine may indicate
Please visit your GP and tell about your ailment, erythrocytes, and especially macroscopically visible blood in urine it should never be left without a diagnosis. The doctor will be able to conduct a thorough history of clots in the urine – are they painful, what color and shape they have been, how often they appear, and how long after starting urination, you may notice blood clots appearing. In addition to these questions, the doctor will be able to ask questions about comorbidities, medications, family history and physical examinations.
He will also be able to order laboratory and radiological tests and, if necessary, refer them to a specialist. It is worth visiting your gynecologist as well, perhaps the clots appearing in the urine come from the genital tract and may indicate endometrial pathology. The gynecologist will also be able to collect a history of menstrual bleeding, previous pregnancies and deliveries, and examine the reproductive organ in the speculum, two-handed examination, and perform a transvaginal ultrasound. On this basis, the gynecologist will be able to with certainty exclude the gynecological cause of the disease, and perhaps confirm it.
The causes of blood clots in the urine there can be many diseases of the kidneys and ureters – kidney stones, proliferative diseases, inflammations. It can also affect the lower urinary tract – the bladder or urethra. First of all, the doctor should rule out the presence of bladder cancer, the risk of which is increased especially in people over 35 years of age. smoking tobacco products. The doctor should immediately carry out laboratory and radiological diagnostics, and possibly refer to a urologist for cystoscopy, which will allow to visualize the mucosa of the bladder and collect specimens from sites suspected of malignant growth.
