What does the presence of amorphous urate in urine show? What are amorphous urates? What role do they play in the body? Are they dangerous to health? Which specialist is worth visiting? The question is answered by the drug. Anna Mitschke.
What do amorphous urates in urine indicate?
Hello. I am 39 years old, because a few years ago I was diagnosed with cancer, I underwent chemotherapy, I have no metastases, the disease has not resumed, but I am oversensitive about my health, I try to systematically perform not only control tests related to cancer prevention, but also these basic for example morphology or urinalysis. A few days ago, I received the results and the description says that they are in the urine numerous amorphous urates, What does it mean?
I do not have my attending physician, so I cannot ask for a consultation. What exactly are they urates amorphous in the urine are they dangerous and can they be the result of some serious illness? I wonder if I shouldn’t do the test again to be sure, maybe in another laboratory. I don’t feel bad, I have no problems urinating, so I’m worried about this result. Is it better to sign up to a nephrologist and not wait for the doctor to return? Please, give me a hint what should I do and answer the question what do amorphous urates in urine mean?
The doctor explains what amorphous urates in urine mean
Urine testing is commonly performed because it provides us with valuable information about the patient’s health. Urinalysis provides information on the physical, biochemical and morphological features of the elements that are in it. The morphological features of urine include crystalluria – the presence of crystals in the urine. Urine test resultwhere no abnormalities other than the presence of amorphous sediment were found, does not indicate pathology. The presence of uric acid crystals, urates, calcium oxalate, calcium phosphates or calcium carbonate, magnesium ammonium phosphate, dependent on the pH of the urine is of limited importance due to the fact that they can be found in the urine of completely healthy people.
When uric acid is removed from the body, it dissolves in the urine depending on the pH of the urine (its alkalinity and acidity). The more acidic the urine is, the less uric acid dissolves in it, which promotes the formation of crystals. Frequent consumption of foods rich in vitamin C acidifies urine, increasing the formation of uric acid crystals in it.
The same is the case with calcium oxalate crystals. Rating type of crystals in the urine it is helpful in the diagnosis of nephrolithiasis. The presence of crystals is of diagnostic importance: cystine, which indicates cystinuria, tyrosine, which indicates tyrosinuria, xanthine, which indicates xanthinuria, some drugs or radiological contrast agents, oxalic acid crystals in patients poisoned with ethylene glycol. All laboratory tests should be considered together. One parameter should not be analyzed in isolation from the rest. Additionally, each examination should be assessed based on the overall clinical picture, presented symptoms, medical history, and the patient’s condition.
Therefore, the urine sediment result should be considered together with other parameters. I suggest consulting the test results with the attending physician. If disturbing symptoms appear, please contact a doctor immediately.
