What can the sex of a child depend on? Can the gender of the baby be planned? What can be done to influence the gender of the baby? What factors determine the gender of a child? How can they be influenced to increase the chances of having a girl or a boy? The question is answered by the drug. Katarzyna Darecka.

What factors determine the gender of a child?

Hello, my name is Joanna and I am currently 23 years old. Together with my partner, with whom I have been for several years, we are trying to have a baby. But my question is about something else, and that is what it depends on the sex of the child? Perhaps this is a bit of a strange question, but I really dream about having a daughter and I wonder if there is any way to influence the gender of the child or to plan it? I have read a lot of information on what determines the gender of a child and how it can be planned, but I do not fully trust such information.

I know that a child’s gender is influenced by the chromosomes passed on by the parents, and this is quite clear to me. However, I am wondering if there are any factors that additionally determine the sex of a child and how they can affect it. Is it even possible to influence them in any way? And is it possible to change what the child’s gender depends on? I will be very grateful for the answer and an explanation of what the sex of the child depends on and whether it is really possible to influence the sex of the child before or after conception.

The doctor explains what the gender of the child depends on

Usually at the time of conception, the chances of a boy or girl are 50/50. There are, however, a theory that may help to increase or decrease the chances of having a child of a given gender.

The sex of the baby is determined at the time of conception. Female sex chromosomes is XX and about male XY. Each egg, because it is formed in the body of a woman, has the possibility of having only one X chromosome. A sperm, in turn, can have either an X or a Y chromosome and it is this chromosome that determines the sex of the child. The Y chromosome is smaller and lighter than the X chromosome, therefore, according to the theory, it is the faster sperm. However, an X sperm cell is more “viable”.

The ovum lives for about 24 hours, but the life of a sperm in a woman’s genital tract can be from 4 to even 7 days. According to this theory, if a couple wants to have a boy, they should have intercourse right after ovulation – then the probability that the egg will be fertilized by the lightest – and as a result is also the fastest – sperm containing the Y chromosome increases. always contains the X chromosome, an individual with an XY karyotype should arise, i.e. a boy after delivery. On the other hand, intercourse before ovulation and letting the “most persistent” sperm survive, ie theoretically those containing the X chromosome, will allow for the formation of an embryo with an XX karyotype, ie after giving birth – a girl.

How to recognize ovulation? Ovulation is associated with very sudden and large changes in hormone levels and occurs 10-12 hours after the peak concentration of luteinizing hormone and 14-24 hours after the appearance of the peak concentration of estradiol. It is because of these sudden changes that a little spotting in the area of ovulation may occur. This spotting is usually light pink in color as it mixes the blood with the cervical mucus.

In the book, a woman’s monthly cycle lasts 28 days, it is the time counted between the first day of a given period and the first day of the next menstruation. Monthly bleeding starts the cycle and lasts until the 7th day of the cycle at the latest. Ovulation should occur on the 14th day of the cycle. However, this would be the case in an ideal world, but just as each of us differs externally, we are not identical internally.

Symptoms of ovulation are: cervical discharge with the appearance of “egg white”, the cervix is lowered compared to the previous days, and the basal temperature measured in the oral cavity or vagina increases by 0.4-1.0 degrees C in relation to normal test temperature.
