Have you noticed any abnormalities in the morphology? Is the hgb index level elevated? What can an excessively high hgb level from a blood test show? What is hgb and what role does it play? The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski

What can an increased level of hgb mean?

Hello. I’m 28 years old. I do tests regularly, because I train running, I have to check the results systematically. A few days ago, I did not only urine analysis, but also complete blood count with smear. Today I received the results, all parameters except the level of hgb are normal, while the hemoglobin is elevated.

I know that the results should be analyzed holistically, not each parameter separately, but all the results are within the normal range, I only have elevated hgb levels. I wonder not only what an increased hgb level may mean, but also what exactly is it and what role does hgb play in the body?

In my case, is it possible that the elevated hgb levels are related to dietary abnormalities? Should he see a GP or another specialist? There is no pain, I am not ill, I do not receive treatment permanently, so I am worried that my hgb level is elevated, so far my tests have been normal. I am asking for a reliable answer.

The doctor explains the reasons for the elevated hgb levels

Sir, you should write exactly what it is hemoglobin concentration and what are the results of the other studies. The fact that they are elevated / lowered or normal does not say much. You should give concrete results. The abbreviation Hgb / Hb stands for hemoglobin, which is the dye that gives blood red.

Importantly, hemoglobin plays a very important role in the circulatory system. In addition to giving blood color, it is responsible for the transport of oxygen molecules, which we need for life. During inhalation, oxygen enters the lungs and then through the thin wall of the alveoli into the blood vessels.

In them, most of it is bound by hemoglobin contained in erythrocytes (red blood cells) and transported to other tissues and organs. Therefore, hemoglobin performs the oxygen transport function. This is due to the presence of iron in its structures. It is it that enables oxygen to bind to hemoglobin molecules.

In the case of abnormal hemoglobin levels most often we are dealing with its reduced amount in the blood. In general, red blood cell volume and number also decrease as hemoglobin decreases. This condition is called anemia and is most often due to iron deficiency.

Anemia, or anemia, is manifested by chronic fatigue, pale skin and conjunctiva, palpitations, anxiety, shortness of breath, and reduced concentration and attention. Supplementing an iron deficiency generally sufficient to eliminate the disease. As you mentioned, your problem is that your hemoglobin level is too high, unfortunately you haven’t written how high it is.

It happens that if only one parameter is incorrect with normal morphology results, then incorrect determination in the laboratory can be taken into account. Sometimes elevated hemoglobin levels results in dehydration. The reduced amount of fluid in the body results in an increase in the concentration of blood elements. I suggest you repeat the test and then go to your family doctor with the result.
