Why do we feel abdominal bloating? What makes our stomach hard? Could this be a symptom of impending menstruation? Can flatulence be the result of a diet? The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski.
What could be the cause of abdominal bloating?
Hello, I would like to advise you about the problem I have been struggling with since yesterday. Well, yesterday evening my lower abdomen started to ache. Apart from that, I had no other symptoms. This morning after eating breakfast I started to feel hard and abdominal gas.
What’s more, the abdomen is also a bit sore. I do not eat anything hard to digest, on the contrary, I use it easily digestible diet (I do not eat flatulent and fried foods). So I don’t know what could be causing it a hard and bloated stomach. I would add that I am a few (8) days ahead of my period at the moment. Could this be the cause of my ailments? I’ve never been like this before.
Flatulence was once notorious for my mother. I’m afraid I might have eaten something that caused the gas. In addition, I am breastfeeding and worried about getting tough and a bloated belly in an infant (10 months). I am asking for advice on what may have contributed to this flatulence, what can I do to get rid of it? Or maybe the main reason is my diet, it causes flatulence? Should I take any medications in this case? Thank you for your response.

The doctor explains what causes a bloated abdomen
Madam, bloating is a common problem that many people face, so stay calm and don’t stress. One of the most common causes of abdominal gas is dietary error, i.e. food intake that causes it. You wrote that you are on an easily digestible diet. Unfortunately, you must bear in mind that such a diet will not eliminate 100 percent. the risk of developing flatulence.
It is a pity that you did not write down what exactly she ate the day before. You mentioned your period is coming. Lower abdominal pain and flatulence may occur during this period and you should not worry about it. I would like to warn you right away that despite the fact of breastfeeding, you do not have to worry about flatulence or a hard aching belly in your baby.
It is a pity that you did not write your bowel movements regularly, or maybe you have less bowel movements. Often constipation can predispose to the development of flatulence and a feeling of heaviness in the belly.
Of course, there are medical conditions in which gas is one of the symptoms. One such disease is irritable bowel syndrome, which often manifests itself by alternating diarrhea and flatulence after eating food, and pain in the lower left abdominal quadrant or around the navel. The disease is not dangerous to your health, but it is definitely tiring.
The drug commonly prescribed for the treatment of flatulence is simethicone. It should bring relief quickly.
It may happen that, despite the proper diet and use of the drug, the flatulence does not disappear. Then I suggest you go to your family doctor who will guide you further and, most importantly, will be able to order any tests. If it turns out that the child also develops flatulence, which happens very often, you can also use simethicone in the drops. In the case of a baby, further treatment is the same, if the drug does not help, a visit to the pediatrician is recommended.
