What color to choose for the kitchen
The principles of color therapy work in the kitchen as well. Choosing the right color for the walls and dishes will help you keep your appetite in check and even lose weight.
Gray with pink will help you lose weight
Can’t say goodbye to those extra pounds? For you – a kitchen in muted gray-pink tones. German researchers claim that this inexpressive color combination can completely discourage appetite. By itself, the neutral gray color of the kitchen does not cause irritation – it has a calming effect, muffling anxiety, and at the same time, appetite. Pale pink enhances this effect, attuning to a contemplative, peaceful mood.
Orange and turquoise whet the appetite
Bright, juicy orange and turquoise have the property of whetting the appetite. Choose an orange kitchen, hang turquoise curtains – and the problem of being too thin will not affect you. The orange color charges with optimism, cheerfulness and gives warmth. The natural turquoise color is pleasing to the eyes – it relieves nervous tension and at the same time naturally tones. If you are not ready for a major renovation, hang a painting in orange and turquoise in front of the dining table.
How to increase the space
White color and light colors, as well as a small pattern on wallpaper, tablecloths, curtains, will help to visually move the walls apart. The classic “kitchen” pattern – a flower, peas, a cage, a strip. Numerous accessories – dishes, cutlery, jars, colorful napkins, towels – also help to increase the space. But what should be avoided when decorating a small kitchen – large patterns and strong color contrasts.
If the kitchen windows face south, choose cold shades for the walls: blue, blue, green, lilac. If to the north, a warm range is suitable: beige, peach, terracotta, etc.
Choosing dishes and cutlery
Numerous experiments have proven the effect of color on our taste buds. So, for example, when looking at yellow candies, more saliva is released than from the sight of red ones. The green and yellow colors of the sweets set up the expectation of sour, red – sweet. So if you don’t want to “mislead” your taste buds, use the best restaurants rule. Choose white porcelain, clear glass and ordinary steel cutlery: this way you will avoid the psychological rejection of the dish that your guests may subconsciously have.
