Why might a baby develop a rash on the back? Why do the spots appear on the back? Could diet cause back pimples? The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski.
What could be the causes of a rash on the back?
Hello. I am a mother of a half-year-old daughter. She had appeared on her body for two days strange rash. The rash is most visible on the back and here and there on the neck. I don’t know what could be causing this back rash. They are small spots that clump together. The daughter doesn’t scratch, so I suppose they’re not itchy. I have been breastfeeding since the day I was born and for a few days I started to expand my daughter’s diet (I introduced carrots and potatoes).
Could new foods in the diet cause this? rash on the back? Is this how an allergy to these foods can manifest? Tomorrow I go with my daughter to the pediatrician, but to be honest until tomorrow, without any information about what might be the cause of a rash on the back I can’t stand it. So I am asking for any feedback. Should I give up on expanding the diet?
I would like to add that I have not changed any bath liquids, washing powder and rinsing. My daughter has never reacted to what I eat. The only thing that is teething at the moment. But is there any connection between the back rash and teething? I am asking for advice.
The doctor suggests the causes of the rash on the infant’s back
Madam, a rash can be a reaction of the body to many different factors. Most often we deal with the so-called urticaria, i.e. an allergic reaction in the form of a rash on the skin. It is usually clumped together and may affect the entire body. In the case of young children, urticaria most often occurs as a result of introducing new foods into the diet. This also applies to women who are breastfeeding.
Other causes include allergies to chemicals, including cosmetics, detergents, and medications. Rather, it does not occur as a result of teething, in which case symptoms such as fever, hypersalivation, restlessness, tearfulness and the insertion of objects in the mouth, which the baby then bites, appear. In order to relieve the child during teething, you can buy various soothing gels for gum lubrication at the pharmacy and give the child teethers.
Urticaria is easily confused with so-called prickles, i.e. spots that occur in places most prone to overheating, i.e. on the neck, armpits or chest. Unlike an allergic rash, heat rash shouldn’t be itchy.
Infectious diseases are among the causes of rash in children. Babies and slightly older children, even to a common viral infection, may react with a rash. Common childhood illnesses of the so-called exudative diseases include hand, foot and mouth disease (incorrectly called Boston), fever for three days (erythema), and infectious erythema. In addition to the rash, fever, restlessness and tearfulness are most common.
Of course, each rash in a child should be seen by a pediatrician, but it should be borne in mind that it is not always possible to diagnose the cause, especially in such young children. If you suspect that your daughter’s rash is a result of new dietary products, I suggest that you give up until you visit your doctor.
