The website www.thehealthy.com describes the results of a study in which 2 Americans were asked about the frequency of changing underwear. Almost half of the adults interviewed admitted wearing underwear for two days or more. 13 percent of the respondents stated that they had worn the same underwear for at least a week.
What is the situation like in our country? According to a study conducted a few years ago on behalf of Leifheit Polska, 93 percent. Poles do laundry at least once a week, and more than half of them even several times a week. However, the question of the frequency of changing underwear was not addressed in the above-mentioned study.
In the TNS Polska survey, which was carried out in 2016 on a group of almost 500 men, they asked how long they wear underwear before washing it. As much as 79 percent. declared then that the panties were washed after one day of wearing. For two days, 13 percent wear the same underwear. Poles, by three – 4 percent.

Second-hand linen is a hotbed of bacteria, fungi and yeasts
People who don’t change their underwear every day say it saves time and money. The frequency of washing clothes is reduced. However, these positive effects are nothing compared to the potential dangers of not changing your underwear.
– Dirty linen is a breeding ground for fungi, bacteria and yeasts. It is also often contaminated with faeces. The nose gets used to the smell of one’s own body, so the odor may not be felt at times, explains Sherry A. Ross, a California gynecologist.
In some situations it is advisable to change your underwear more than once a day
Another problem is acne. Wearing underwear traps sweat, dirt and bacteria, leaving them close to your skin. This can lead to an unpleasant odor or clogged pores, which in turn can result in breakouts.
Excessive sweating of the legs is an embarrassing ailment that can be significantly reduced. The Herbapol foot hyperhidrosis gel available in Medonet Market can help.
Wearing the same underwear for several days also increases the risk of genital irritation and infection. Changing your underwear each day is to prevent sweat, bacteria, dirt and oil from building up. However, there may be situations in which the change of underwear should be more frequent. It is recommended in the case of increased physical activity. Temperature is also an important factor. The higher it is, the more we should consider changing underwear more than once a day.

High-quality underwear reduces the risk of serious infections
Sometimes we can find ourselves in a situation where we cannot do laundry for some time. If it happens very sporadically, it shouldn’t be too damaging. However, if we know that for some reason we will be forced to wear the same underwear for many days in a row, it is worth making sure that it is of good quality, i.e. made of cotton or other natural fabrics. Plastic underwear, worn for a few more days, is a real paradise for pathogenic bacteria.
