What can be sewn from fleece with your own hands
Fleece is undeservedly considered a rustic material. In fact, you can sew a lot of different things from fleece with your own hands, from clothes to decor. If you take care of him properly, then he looks good enough.
Fleece is a faux wool made from synthetic fibers, which is why it is valued for warm garments. Due to the unique structure, the material dries quickly, does not wrinkle or stretch, therefore, children’s clothes are often sewn from it. And also it does not crumble; working with it, it is not necessary to process the edges.
What to sew from artificial wool:
- hat and mittens;
- pajamas;
- windbreaker;
- pants;
- bedspread, cover;
- children’s clothes;
- fancy dress.
Fleece is used for sewing toys, Christmas decorations, decorative pillows, as a lining for outerwear and trousers. It’s probably easier to name what cannot be sewn from fleece.
The only drawback of the material: it shrinks. Wash and dry before sewing clothes, but do not iron. You can use regular needles and threads for knitwear.
The fleece hat will keep children and adults warm in spring and autumn. For winter, the material can only be used as a lining or clothing for the house. The advantage of a fleece hat is that it is warm, soft, does not absorb moisture and dries quickly if you have to wash it.
What you need:
- cloth;
- thread, needle;
- sewing machine;
- scissors;
- tape measure;
- chalk or remnants.
To determine the size of the material you will need, measure the circumference of your head around your forehead, this will be the width of the cut, and the distance from the eyebrows to the back of your head through the crown of your head is the height. Leave 1 cm for seams.
Draw 2 identical parts of the future hat on the fabric, at the bottom they should be straight, and round the top.
If you want the top of the cap not to bulge, make a V-shaped cut at the top of the blanks, you will get 2 triangles, like ears.
Sew the “ears” together on the inside, and then connect the front and back of the cap on the wrong side. Turn out the product and try on; if it turns out to be too big, tuck the bottom and sew the fold on a typewriter.
Fleece is a warm, hypoallergenic and practical material. Do not be afraid to use it for sewing clothes and decorative items. Wash the material in water no higher than 40 degrees, do not squeeze it in a centrifuge, and then the fleece product will serve for many years.
