The choice of culture for vaccination

Sometimes a varietal mulberry is grafted onto a wild species. This procedure helps to increase the number of fruits.

Harvesting cuttings
Cuttings are prepared some time before the event itself. Annual shoots are cut from the uppermost part of the crown. The side for the cut is chosen well-lit. The procedure is carried out in early spring or at the end of winter, if there were severe frosts.
Store the cuttings in a cool place with sufficient humidity and always wrapped in a wet cloth. The main thing is that they are not frozen, otherwise the grafting process will be unsuccessful.

How to instill
Mulberries are grafted in the spring. Choose the period when the buds open and before flowering. Due to the fact that in the middle of spring, namely in April, the most active metabolic processes take place in the tree trunk and the juice circulates continuously, engraftment is easier. It is during this period that the likelihood that the cutting will grow together with the tree is highest.
It is very important to do everything with sharp and clean tools. So, the cuts will be obtained the first time and will have good quality.
In cases where grafting in the spring did not work out, mulberry should be budded in the summer. Preliminary harvesting of shoots is not needed. For the scion, strong and strong branches are selected that bear fruit well. Such branches have large and wide leaves, and the buds are well formed.
You can also plant mulberries in the winter season. This option is also called desktop, because it is done at home on a flat surface. You can use immature seedlings, they are simply then grown at home, and in the spring already grafted plants are planted immediately in the garden.
It is very important to remember that this wood is characterized by immediate oxidation. And so the whole procedure should be done quickly and clearly. Places of cuts (wounds) must be treated with garden putty.
