What can a nursing mother from a temperature: folk remedies, drink, take

Women who are breastfeeding, like all other people, are susceptible to various diseases. But during the lactation period, you cannot just take an antipyretic pill, because its effect will also affect the health of the baby. Therefore, many are interested in what a nursing mother can do with temperature. Various medications can help cope with the disease, but it is much safer to use folk remedies.

What can be taken at high temperatures

During feeding, everything that the woman has consumed gets into the baby’s body. A particular danger is posed by medications that mothers use to bring down their temperature, because not all medications are safe for the baby’s health. Therefore, before taking this or that antipyretic agent, consult your doctor.

Proven folk remedies will help nursing mothers from temperature.

Many women prefer to take their fever with antibiotics. But mommy should remember that these drugs are extremely undesirable for the baby and they can only be drunk as directed by a doctor. At the same time, it is not recommended to feed the child during the active action of medications. Therefore, before taking the medication, express a portion of milk that will be enough for the baby for the entire course of treatment.

After taking antibiotics, you need to wait a few hours, express and pour out the first portion of milk. Only then can the baby be fitted to the breast.

It is safer to relieve fever with Paracetamol or Nurofen. These drugs have practically no side effects, so they are approved for use during lactation. In this case, these medicines should be used in the form of suppositories. They are, of course, less effective, but at the same time you can be sure that the active components of the drugs will not get into the milk, and, accordingly, the child’s body.

Folk remedies for temperature

This method of treatment is the safest, because natural ingredients do not contain substances harmful to the baby. They have proven themselves excellent in the treatment of colds:

  • lemon;
  • raspberries;
  • honey;
  • black currant;
  • linden leaves.

They can be added to hot tea or made with herbal teas. Effectively and safely relieve the rubbing temperature with a vinegar solution, which is used to treat the chest, armpits, knee and elbow bends. But it is not recommended to use alcohol for these purposes, as it can get into milk through the skin.

There are many ways that you can reduce the temperature of a nursing woman. But before using any of them, you should consult your doctor. In addition, if relief does not come and the fever is accompanied by other unpleasant symptoms, then you should immediately seek medical help.
