What are the symptoms of schizophrenia?
Patients know water phases, that is to say a period during which their quality of life is very degraded, and more “calm” periods. People with schizophrenia have a high risk of suicide. The delusional puffs can be one of the first symptoms. Hospitalization is often necessary when they appear.
Thus, the symptoms of this disease vary greatly from one person to another. Some are said positive (and are the most impressive, these are hallucinations for example) and others negative (social withdrawal, isolation…). Some of the most common symptoms include:
- Delusions
- Hallucinations, mainly visual and auditory
- Anguish
- Sleeping troubles
- Lack of motivation
- Feeling of persecution, paranoia (people who suffer from it feel that some people want to hurt them)
- Feeling insecure
- Strange impressions, intrusive ideas
- Thinking disturbances
- Obsessions, phobias
- Inconsistent speeches
- Lack of reaction, emotion
- Unpredictable behaviors
- Difficulty communicating
- Forgetting everyday tasks (clothing, housekeeping, personal grooming, etc.)
- Isolation
- Depression
- Difficulty distinguishing what is real and what is not
