How is aortic atherosclerosis manifested? Can aortic atherosclerosis manifest itself in malaise and pain? Is aortic atherosclerosis cured early enough? Should you see a doctor with such ailments? The question is answered by the drug. Katarzyna Darecka.
How is aortic atherosclerosis manifested?
Hello. I have been observing disturbing symptoms in my husband for some time. The husband is 48 years old, he works physically. For several months he has been complaining of recurrent abdominal pain, flatulence and diarrhea. I have the impression that his general well-being is worse and he has lost his appetite. I worry about him and urge me to see a doctor, but he, like every man, still doesn’t have time. I am worried because his father and my father-in-law died as a result of complications after late detection atherosclerosis of the abdominal aorta.
I am afraid that my husband does not have similar ailments, but maybe it is some early stage that enables him to function normally. Therefore, I would like to ask what symptoms she has atherosclerosis of the aorta? Could these pains, problems and malaise of my husband actually be related to this disease? Can aortic atherosclerosis detected early enough be cured? Should the husband see a doctor immediately with his ailments? I note that they do not accompany him all the time, they appear from time to time, but certainly more often than before.
The doctor explains the symptoms of atherosclerosis of the abdominal aorta
Atherosclerosis is a systemic disease that affects not one vessel, but many at the same time, causing them to narrow, thicken and stiffen, limiting and slowing down the supply of oxygen to the tissues. Healthy arteries are flexible and flexible, but can become crushed over time and under the influence of risk factors. Composed of atherosclerotic plaque mainly fats, including cholesterol and inflammatory cells. The plaque can also be damaged, causing a thrombotic material that can completely block the artery and stop oxygen from reaching the tissue in question. Atherosclerosis can be treated and, above all, prevented.
Do symptoms of atherosclerosis you may include chest pain, if your atherosclerosis is in the coronary arteries, symptoms of TIA or stroke, e.g. sudden weakness in limbs, speech problems, visual disturbances, paresis of the facial muscles if atherosclerosis occurs in the arteries supplying blood to the brain, pain in the legs or arms during exercise, if it concerns the arteries of the extremities, arterial hypertension or even renal failure if it concerns the renal arteries and symptoms from the gastrointestinal tract if it concerns the visceral vessels.
The causes of atherosclerosis include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, triglycerides, smoking, obesity, and diabetes. First of all, you should prevent atherosclerosis by stopping smoking, introducing a diet based on healthy eating habits, such as avoiding simple sugars, eating large amounts of vegetables and fruits, unprocessed and whole grains, as well as fish, nuts, vegetable oils and other foods rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, Frequent, regular exercise and maintaining a proper weight and avoiding stress.
If there is a concern that the husband has atherosclerosis, the family doctor should perform a lipid test and if the values are incorrect, in addition to changing the lifestyle, prescribe treatment to reduce the level of “bad” cholesterol in the blood, ie LDL cholesterol. If blood pressure is poorly controlled, the doctor should also order antihypertensive treatment and daily home measurements recorded in a diary. If the patient follows the above-mentioned recommendations, atherosclerosis, including the aorta, should regress.
The symptoms presented by your husband, however, may have a different cause, they may be caused, for example, by an infectious, inflammatory or proliferative disease. That is why it is worth persuading the husband to see a doctor, he will be able to carefully collect an interview, also regarding diseases occurring in the husband’s family, physical examination, order laboratory tests and refer to a specialist and order appropriate treatment.
