How is chlorine allergy manifested?

Hello. I am 19 years old and have at least some allergies for sure. I have never done allergy tests, but I have a strong pollen season in spring, for example. I also have for sure dust allergybecause I always sneeze heavily and have a runny nose when I come into contact with dust. However, the allergies do not stop at breathing, because once, after contact with a plant (I still do not know which plant), I developed strange pimples on my skin, which disappeared after about two weeks.

I have been doing various sports for a long time, all amateur, but I like to move. I would also like to sign up for the swimming pool, but I have some concerns because I know that the water in the pool is chlorinated. And I am afraid that with my various allergies I may also have it allergy to chlorine. May I find out about the symptoms of a chlorine allergy? My point is that I should recognize a possible chlorine allergy as soon as possible (if I have it, of course) and have time to get out of the water, or see a doctor as soon as possible. Please explain my problem.

The doctor lists the symptoms of allergy to chlorine

Direct contact with chemicals or irritants may cause a local hypersensitivity reaction. When these reactions are related to an immune mechanism, they are called allergic contact dermatitis. If this mechanism is not found, it is non-allergic contact dermatitis. Skin damage caused by irritants is associated with the destruction of the natural protective barrier of the epidermis, which are lipids and acid pH. Diagnosis is made after the presence of vesicles and vesicles, indistinctly delineated, recurrent, pruritus, and disappear without leaving a trace.

Chlorine is a chemical used in swimming pools to rid the water of bacteria, viruses and fungi. May cause hypersensitivity in a small number of people. On contact with the skin, rash, itching, burning sensation, redness, swelling, and peeling may occur. When chlorine comes into contact with mucous membranes, it may cause reddening, itching, burning, pain, watery eyes, cough, runny nose. Contact with the digestive system may lead to diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting.

Treatment should always be initiated after consulting a doctor. In the treatment of contact eczema, antihistamines, small doses of corticosteroids, corticosteroid ointments, antibacterial and antifungal agents, urea ointments, salicylic ointments are used. Unfortunately, in many cases, when a hypersensitivity reaction to chlorinated water occurs, it is recommended to avoid exposure to this factor, i.e. abandon the swimming pool.

I think it is worth going to your GP, who will probably refer you to an allergist. A person skilled in the art will make the necessary diagnostics and possibly start treatment for possibly already existing symptoms of allergy.
