There are factors that increase the risk of having a breakdown3-7  :

  • A non-existent or inadequate warm-up
  • Unusual or excessive strain
  • A state of fatigue
  • Lack of flexibility (decrease in range of motion)
  • History of muscle tears (2,7 times more risk)
  • Underlying joint damage (2 to 3 times more risk)
