What are the household duties of a child at home to parents: a list
The responsibilities of the child at home teach the child to be responsible and organized, and they also make them feel like they belong to the family. It is important to figure out what instructions to give to the crumbs at a given age.
Household responsibilities for parents
There is no need to ask the child to do this or that task every time. Discuss with him his responsibilities, which he will always perform. A convenient way to do this is with a schedule. Draw it with colored markers with your baby. For example, write that your child washes dishes and dust on Mondays, waters the yard on Tuesdays, and so on. Post your schedule in a prominent place. Update it as needed.
The child should not be accountable for the work done, and the parents should not act as supervisors. The main task is to teach the child to do things responsibly, without external control. It is important that everything in the home is based on trust.
What responsibilities should be on the list
It is possible to teach a child to do household chores from the age of three. Choose age appropriate tasks.
- 3 years. Put toys in their places, put plates and cutlery on the table, remove crumbs from the table, brush your teeth and comb yourself, get food out of the bag and arrange those that are on the lower shelves.
- 4 years. Pour food for pets on a schedule, make and clean the bed, wash dishes, wipe dust, pour milk over cereals and butter bread, get mail from a mailbox.
- 5 years. Making sandwiches, washing sinks and mirrors that hang low, preparing laundry for washing, folding washed laundry, throwing out the trash.
- 6 years. Use a vacuum cleaner, water flowers, peel vegetables, hang clothes after washing, weed weeds, and walk the dog.
- 7 years. Watering the garden, carrying a grocery bag from the store, ironing simple things.
- 8-9 years old. Washing floors, tidying up closets, sewing on buttons, cooking simple meals, feeding younger children.
- 10 years. Use the washing machine, buy groceries from the list, wash the car.
- 11-12 years old. Sitting with little brothers and sisters, putting them to bed, helping dad with men’s affairs, washing the oven and stove.
This list is not complete, you can expand it depending on the individual characteristics of the child.
If you approach the matter correctly, then housework will become interesting and exciting for the baby. He will carry out it responsibly and without unnecessary reminders.
