The origin of the inflammation is in the pilosebaceous follicles which contain the apocrine glands, the glands responsible for the production and externalization of sweat. Infection and inflammation occur when these glands become blocked. Although the cause of this obstruction is unknown, the hormonal and genetic factor, tabagisme andobesity could be involved.
