What are the causes of turista?
The turista is the consequence of the contamination by germs, of a drink or of a food which one ingests. The infectious agents most often involved are bacteria (Escherichia coli, shigella, salmonella, Campylobacter), sometimes viruses (rotavirus) or parasites (amoeba). Insufficient hygiene (in particular the use of non-potable water) favors this transmission. The countries regularly concerned are Egypt, India, Thailand, Pakistan, Morocco, Kenya, Tunisia, the Caribbean, Turkey, Mexico, etc. And in Europe, Malta, Greece, Spain and Portugal are also at the origin of some cases, but in much smaller proportions.
