Why does the scalp hurt? Where does this ailment come from? What can be done with such an ailment? Is it worth going to the doctor? Will medications, ointments or shampoos help to relieve scalp pain? What to choose? The question is answered by the drug. Katarzyna Darecka.
Why does the scalp hurt?
Hello. I have an unusual problem. Well, he shows up at my place from time to time skin pain head. It is difficult to describe it unequivocally, but it feels like someone is pulling my hair. It doesn’t hurt my hair, but the scalp. Then I feel such a gentle burning sensation there, a feeling of pulling, I have the impression that something is burning me there. More than once I tried to look at this place, I checked with my hand if it was not hot and I looked if it was not red, but no – there was no feeling or visible traces.
I only had this one a strange pain in the scalpI can’t explain. What are the causes of headache pain? Where does such pain come from? It occurred to me that I might be sleeping badly, but I don’t think that’s possible. I would like to emphasize that I am not an allergy sufferer, so all allergic reactions from the outside are eliminated. Is there anything that can be done with such a headache? Maybe there are some medications or ointments or shampoos to relieve pain in such moments? It may not be very strong, but it is annoying enough.
The doctor indicates possible causes of pain in the scalp
Scalp pain is a common symptom of head injuries and is also the area to which headaches can radiate. Scalp pain can also be a symptom of dermatological diseases.
Injury to the head area, brain, skull and concussion may cause headache pain and it may occur immediately after the injury or several hours or even days after the event, it may indicate the appearance of intracranial bleeding or edema. Also, haemorrhage caused by an injury that appeared after a few days may end in pain in the scalp area.
Headaches can cause pain in the scalp, but also pain in the face and neck area. Particular disease conditions such as migraine, sinus pain, tension headaches and neuralgia, including occipital neuralgia, can radiate to the scalp and cause pain in this area.
Dermatological diseases that can contribute to scalp pain include contact eczema, wounds after infestation of the scalp by lice, but also neoplastic diseases such as e.g. basal cell carcinoma. Contact eczema of the scalp may appear as a result of contact with irritating substances contained in shampoo, conditioner or, most often, in hair dye. If there is any focal change on the scalp or any of the above-mentioned dermatological diseases is suspected, it is recommended to go to a dermatology specialist – he will be able to collect a detailed history, examine the area of the scalp, order tests and treatment, or calm down, if it is not serious .
If you have severe headache or someone around you has it and you experience symptoms such as: sudden blindness in one or both eyes, loss of consciousness or confusion, bleeding or fluid leakage from the nose, ears or mouth, disturbances in the recognition of visual and auditory stimuli , scenting, numbness in the neck after a head injury, the occurrence of an epileptic seizure or uneven pupils, you should immediately call the Medical Emergency Team.
