What animals can be kept at home
According to Kipling’s tale, man first tamed a dog, then a cow and a horse. The cat came to people last, and not in order to serve, but on the contrary, to arouse admiration. And yet we have not tamed animals in vain. And the benefit is not in protecting houses and catching mice – they can be our companions and even help to rehabilitate after an illness.

Pet therapy is a healing method, the meaning of which is to influence a person with the help of animals. They began to use it in the second half of the twentieth century. What kind of pets are able to heal people?
Any pet owner has noticed that pet has a positive effect on mood. And it’s not just about dogs and cats. Observing aquarium fish helps to improve the state of stress, has a calming effect on the nervous system. It is recommended to keep the fish in the apartment for those who suffer from dermatitis: itching decreases when a person looks at the smooth movements of the inhabitants of the aquarium. Parrots and canaries protect from depression – even in inclement weather, the singing and chirping of birds reminds of summer and cheers up. The purring of a cat promotes the production of the hormone of happiness – serotonin. In addition, cats have the ability to relieve pain. The mechanism of this process has not been studied, but the benefits are obvious. Dog owners are less likely to have a heart attack, they have stronger immunity, better physical shape – all thanks to daily walks. In addition, even the most withdrawn and shy dog breeders become more sociable over time, because during walks or classes with a pet on the site, acquaintances are made. Pets have another important quality – they are not able to infect a bad mood.
Do not give up pets if there are children in the family. Caring for cats, dogs and hamsters disciplines babies and teaches them responsibility. Does the baby speak badly? Why not get a parrot – the child will teach the bird simple words, and at the same time he will work out the pronunciation of complex sounds. By the way, pets help fight phobias, if, for example, a child is afraid of the dark, then by running a cat or dog into the nursery, you can reduce the level of anxiety of the baby. After all, he will not feel lonely. Is the child embarrassed to read aloud? Leave him alone with the dog and ask him to read the story. It is unlikely that the baby will stumble in front of a four-legged listener. Gradually, there will be no trace of childhood uncertainty. Teen refuses to play sports? Invite him to sign up for agility (a type of sports dog training).
Before you get a pet, you should think about whether you have the time and energy to take care of it. Will you be able to monitor the health of the animal, walk the dog on time, change the litter box for the cat. In addition, it is worth considering that pets are sick, and they can transmit some diseases to the owner. For example, a dog and even a cat walking on the balcony can pick up a tick. From a canary or a parrot, you can become infected with psittacosis, the causative agent of this disease is transmitted in birds from generation to generation. Dogs can infect leptospirosis or rabies. But unpleasant consequences can be avoided. It is better to purchase pets with good genetics from trusted breeders. Would you like to take a cat or dog to the shelter? See your veterinarian for a health check. Often abandoned tetrapods need serious treatment, and it’s best to understand in advance if you can provide it. After all, returning the pet back to the cage, you inflict additional injury on it. After the cat or dog appears in the house, do not forget to vaccinate the animal, check the condition of the skin and coat, and do the treatment against parasites. And then your communication with your four-legged friend will not cause trouble.
Cat, dog, hamster or fish? The choice depends on your capabilities. Of course, if you come home late, you shouldn’t buy a dog – it will be difficult for him to wait more than 12 hours for a walk. Does anyone in the family have an allergy? Look closely at cats and dogs without hair (sphynx, crested hairless dogs). But before purchasing fish, make sure that you are not allergic to the smell of dry food.
Companions of novice dog breeders
If you have your first dog in your life, carefully consider the choice of breed. Ideal companions for beginners:
- royal poodle (dwarf and small too vociferous). This dog does not need special training, loves children, behaves calmly on walks. Poodles do not shed and are therefore ideal for allergy sufferers. The only negative is that the wool must be combed out and cut regularly;
- Labrador – the ideal nanny for children, completely devoid of aggression dog. Easy to train. Minus – a rather overweight, large breed, it will be difficult for a labrador to turn around in a one-room apartment, however, in a two-room apartment he will feel quite comfortable;
- pug – a cheerful little one will fit even in small-sized housing. This is a loving optimistic dog, it does not need long walks. There are some peculiarities in the care, but in general it is not difficult to get along with such a pet.
Due to the complexities of character and the need for professional training, beginners should not buy the Caucasian and Central Asian Shepherd Dog, Rottweiler, Chow Chow, Shar Pei, Doberman, Husky, Dachshund.
The nature of the baleen-striped is also different. In addition, there are cats, the care of which is very difficult and requires a lot of money. Therefore, the podium looks like this:
- a noble cat is least of all susceptible to diseases, quick-witted, not capricious;
- the Briton is a calm animal. And although this breed loves solitude, it has nothing against children. Minus – weak immunity;
- Abyssinian cat is sanguine, loves active games, gets along with other pets and even with very noisy children. Has no flaws.
Siamese are difficult (they are often aggressive), Persian and Angora breeds – they require grooming, Maine Coons rarely get along with other four-legged, and they need a lot of space.
