There is no perfect solution when it comes to alcohol. By deciding for any drink, you need to be aware that we will deliver it to the body extra calories. Moreover, alcohol stimulates the appetite and reduces control over spożywanymi przekąskami.
However, choosing the right alcohol will help you reduce the amount these calories. Alcohols that combine with others provide the most calories drinks, so all drinks, e.g. with cola or juices.
The table below presents a list of popular drinks:
Type of alcohol | kcal / serving | kcal/100 ml |
mug of beer (500 ml) | 245 | 49 |
a glass of dry red wine (120 ml) | 82 | 68 |

The table shows that beer is the least calorific, dry red wine and champagne, and from the drinks presented – bloody mary.
Is beer really the best choice?
Although beer is relatively low in calories, it does it is drunk in larger quantities – 1 mug is after all 0,5 liters, i.e. 245 kcal. By drinking a glass of dry wine (120 ml) at the same time, we will deliver only approx. 80 kcal. In addition, moderate drinking of red wine has a proven record of being positive effect on the cardiovascular system. Therefore, it is definitely a better choice just wine.
Watch out for the champagne
Champagne is also low in calories, but it is alcohol very deceptive. The carbon dioxide in it makes the alcohol faster penetrates into the bloodstream. That is why we get drunk faster with champagne than, for example, with wine.
Drink alcohol with water
We often drink alcohol down with carbonated or juices cola drinks. Not only do these drinks bring additional ones to the body calories, it also makes us drunk faster. Acids contained in juices organic, and in the case of cola – carbon dioxide, accelerate absorption alcohol. An even worse choice is, for example, cola light, which is sweetened with aspartame. This sweetener in combination with alcohol is almost poisonous to the body.
Because alcohol is a diuretic and we lose a lot by drinking it water, so it is best when it is washed down with water. In this way we will supplement these losses without providing additional calories. It is assumed that on each glass of vodka should be drunk at least half a glass of still water.
Control your snack consumption
When drinking and having great fun, we often do not put too much attention much importance to what we eat. Alcohol stimulates the appetite, caloric surplus so it is not only related to the drink itself, but also to snacks. Of course, you should eat, otherwise the alcohol will hit your head quickly. In addition, when the stomach is empty, the sensitivity of its mucosa increases, so alcohol can damage it. Let’s try to choose healthy snacks – Lean meat, fish and vegetable dishes will be ideal. Fruits are not a very good choice (the organic acids contained in them will speed up absorption of alcohol), as well as sweets and snacks such as crisps, sticks (ze due to the high calorific value).
To answer the title question, I would choose dry red wine. However, no matter what alcohol you choose, it is worth keeping in moderation. Any alcohol drunk in large amounts (including wine) has a negative effect on health and weight.
