What a child should be able to do in a year and a month: consultation of a child psychologist, develop
All children are individual, but still there are norms of what kids should be able to do at a given age. If you are unsure if your child meets the standards, seek the advice of a child psychologist and pediatrician. Also, remember that your baby’s development is largely dependent on you and your actions.
What a child should be able to do in a year and a month
According to the World Health Association, the height of boys at this age is 73,5-78,4 cm, and their weight is from 8,7 to 11 kg. The girls are 71,5-76,8 cm tall and weigh 8-10,2 kg. Also, children at this age should have 8 front teeth.
Here’s what crumbs should normally be able to do:
- Walk. Or show an active desire to learn. Children waddle around a year and a month, clumsily, with parental help.
- Sit. For example, at a table while eating.
- Understand simple commands, know the names of the surrounding objects, for example, a doll, a ball, etc.
- Speak words with repeating syllables – mom, dad, baba. Know the sounds made by animals. Use simple words like “give” or “on.”
- Be aware that you can pull or push objects to move them.
- Communicate with peers, make friends.
Children are active at this time. They no longer have enough communication with mom and dad, they want to get to know other children, which is why it is so important to visit playgrounds, development schools and other similar places.
Parental involvement in the development of children
At this age, buy big toys for your child to push or roll. It can be big cars, plush animals, etc. Also, the little one will like books with bright large pictures, he will be happy to look at them. There are a lot of such books in bookstores. They usually have titles like My First Book.
Give your child the opportunity to explore the world. Take him to zoos, entertainment centers, etc.
An example of a game for a toddler at the age of 1 year and 1 month is a piggy bank. Buy or build a slotted box. First, teach your toddler to throw small objects at it, such as buttons. Then show how to shake a piggy bank to make a rattling sound.
Another game for this age is finding a toy. Hide the bear in front of your baby, for example, under a blanket and ask him to find it. To complicate the task, tie a ribbon to the bear, hide it so that the child cannot see, leave only the ribbon in plain sight. On it, the child will have to find a toy.
Even if your child does not know how to do any of the above, do not panic. Develop your baby, and he will certainly learn everything.
