The premium bunker was built for himself by an American businessman back in the 70s.
At the time of the Cold War, many in the West believed that a real war was about to begin – a nuclear one. Those who especially sincerely believed in the coming apocalypse, in which only the most prepared will survive, built bunkers for themselves. In America, at least 200 thousand such private shelters were built. But businessman Gerard Henderson surpassed everyone: he built himself a premium-class bunker in Las Vegas. Moreover, he lived there until his death.
From the outside, the house looks like an ordinary rich man’s house: a luxurious kitchen, six bathrooms, a jacuzzi, a swimming pool. But at a depth of 8 meters under the “outer” house there is another one, underground, built of concrete and steel. It was recently put up for sale with an estimate of $ 18 million. And it still looks like a picture from 70s interior design magazines. Only underground.
The bunker covers an area of about 1400 square meters. There is not only a house, but also a courtyard with artificial trees, stones, surrounded by frescoes depicting rural landscapes. With the help of lighting, you can simulate the change of day and night, light the “stars” in the “sky”. It has all the amenities imaginable and unthinkable: of course, running water, a jacuzzi, several bedrooms, a bar, an illuminated pool, even a fountain! And you can walk along the “cliff”. In the backyard, you can sit on soft chairs looking at the stars, or have a barbecue. Surely there is a solarium. And for guests – a guest house. Among such luxury and self-isolation is not a sin!
