7 weeks pregnant: baby side
Our baby measures on average 3 centimeters and weighs about 4 grams.
His development
The back of our little embryo is straightening up. The heart has almost completed its formation. It beats at the rate of 170 beats per minute, while an adult’s heart rate averages 80 beats per minute. The diaphragm (the muscle that separates the abdomen from the chest) begins to appear. The embryo increasingly takes on a human form. His arms, legs, feet and hands are developing at full speed. The very first movements begin. They will thus train the muscles and contribute to their development. However, you do not feel them yet, it will take several weeks to apprehend the famous “bubbles”. Moreover, the placenta settles on the uterine wall, but it is not yet functional.
7 weeks pregnant: on our side
The size of our uterus has already doubled and it is about to exceed, in height, the pubic bone. Progesterone, which softens all tissues, gives it tremendous elasticity. This same hormone also has a beneficial impact on our skin and changes the nature of our hair: it falls less, is thicker and greases less quickly (because I’m worth it, we can finally redo the ad by shaking our head).
We don’t worry if we have more vaginal discharge, This is completely normal. On the other hand, if they give off a strong and nauseating odor, we consult our doctor without waiting. This can be a sign of an infection that will be treated quickly with the right medication.
Our memo
Our first consultation must take place before 15 weeks of gestation (13 weeks gestation). Our doctor or our midwife will give us our maternity file, he will check our weight and our blood pressure.
