26th week of pregnancy on the baby side
Our baby measures almost 25 centimeters from head to coccyx, and weighs between 900 grams and one kilo.
His development
Our baby is getting heavier and heavier, even if, objectively, it is still a featherweight compared to what it will be in two months! The average weight of a full-term baby is 3,5 kg. He needs to find a position in which he is as comfortable as possible. He still has enough space around him to perform a final spin and position himself with his head (the heaviest part) down. Some babies (around 3%) feel comfortable enough sitting on their buttocks: they still have time to turn around and find the most suitable position for an easy birth.
26th week of pregnancy on our side
Between a bulky stomach, heavy legs and heartburn… it’s not always easy to find sleep at the end of the day! However, it is important not to accumulate too much fatigue before the 3rd trimester which is very close. We don’t hesitate to rest as soon as we can!
My reminder
Swimming, walking… Physical activity can only do us good! In a way, this even prepares us for childbirth: our body will be at the top to pass this milestone, especially in terms of endurance and breath. Practicing a physical activity is therefore quite possible, but be careful, some sports are more than not recommended (combat sports, thrill sports, etc.).
Our approaches
If we are Rh negative and our baby is Rh positive, we will have an injection of anti-D gamma globulin this week. This injection is called “anti-Rhesus vaccination”. It prevents the production of “anti-Rhesus” antibodies that could cause anemia in the fetus, as well as severe jaundice at birth. It should be noted that today, serious accidents linked to Rh incompatibility are very rare, thanks to the increased monitoring of future mothers with negative Rh.
