A bouquet helps to declare love, ask for forgiveness, express gratitude, and, of course, not a single wedding ceremony can do without flowers. Vera Denisova, the founder of the author’s floristry workshop, tells how to choose flowers for the bride’s bouquet and festive decor.
“Each flower has its own character, shape, color, texture, which are read on a subconscious level,” says Vera Denisova, founder of the author’s floristry workshop.
White and green: a return to nature
A bouquet of white flowers and herbaceous plants symbolizes tenderness, lightness and purity. Usually such compositions are chosen by couples who subtly feel beauty, appreciate romance and sincerity. Green is increasingly found in bouquets, not only as a background, but also as a favorite. However, he creates the most refined and fresh combination with white – simple, but the most perfect of all colors found in nature. There is a wide choice among white flowers: sensual mattiola, gillyflower, a symbol of unfading beauty, the most delicate eustoma, reminiscent of twisted shreds of white silk, modest buds of a spray rose, star-shaped flashes of astilba.
Those who follow royal weddings are probably aware that the white bridal bouquet is a tradition observed by representatives of noble British houses. Myrtle flowers, which are certainly present in the wedding composition, symbolize love and marriage. So, the bouquet of Meghan Markle on the day of her marriage to Prince Harry consisted of myrtle, forget-me-nots, lilies, astilbe, jasmine and astrantia.
New life of gypsophila
A weightless haze of tiny flowers resembling small knots, gypsophila symbolizes heartfelt feelings and joy. Known primarily as a versatile addition to compositions, gypsophila has suddenly become in demand in wedding floristry as the main plant for the bride’s bouquet. The flower has become the trend of 2019.
Gypsophila looks good in the bride’s wreath and souvenirs for guests. Perhaps, it is important to observe only one condition – its beauty should not be drowned out by bright and dark shades. Her ideal “neighbors” – white spray roses, eustoma, astilba – are as sophisticated as she is.
dreamy pink
Another trendy shade in 2019 is pale pink, and the more unusual it is, the more interesting it looks in a bouquet. Pink, as a symbol of warm sympathy, brings a touch of girlish dreaminess to the bouquet. It goes well with all kinds of greenery, from the yellow-green color of young shoots to deep cold emerald.
Bright combinations
The focus on naturalness does not mean at all that lovers of bright colors should forget about their preferences. Do you want to declare a strong character and strong feelings? No shade can do this better than red. Green tones will come in handy here too: surrounded by herbaceous plants and leaves, even traditional scarlet roses will look bright and unusual.
As for the choice of the plants themselves, the florists of the @flower_crop workshop recommend paying attention to another trend of 2019 – anthurium, which is distinguished by its sculptural shape and spectacular glossy surface. Red anthurium flowers are responsible for attracting love to the house, preventing routine and boredom in a relationship. This flower is to the liking of active people. Surrounded by lush foliage and greenery, the anthurium will remind you of its tropical origin, and the bouquet itself will look even more spectacular.
