Crackling frosts or sudden thaws? Woman`s Day found out the preliminary weather forecast for the winter 2017–2018 in the Urals.
According to the forecasts of British scientists, this winter will be the coldest in the last 100 years. We will sympathize with Europe, but we will be glad for us: the Ural forecasters assure that winter in the Urals will be within normal limits.
In general, there is no need to wait for severe frosts. This is also confirmed by folk signs. According to legend, if there are a lot of berries on the mountain ash, it means that the winter will be cold. Fortunately, there were almost no rowan trees this summer. The cold summer of 2017 also promises a warm winter. But the fact that there was a lot of rain in summer foreshadows a long, long winter.
So, we have already experienced the first snow, but next week it is better to change the tires to studded ones – it will snow, the temperature will drop below 0 ° C. And the first serious frosts should be expected in mid-November.
Still, there will be no severe cold weather in the Urals!
In December, of course, the snow will already be everywhere. But the beginning of the month will pass without a cold. Average daily temperature is –20 ° C. Mid-December also promises to be sunny, although the temperature will drop by a few degrees. And by the end of the year it will “get warmer” to –15 ° C. By the way, the coldest December was in 1966, when the average temperature was -25 ° C, which is 11 ° C below normal.
But in January it is already worth shifting your warmest sweaters to the nearest shelf – it will be cold, very snowy, but no wind. In mid-January it will be even colder, snowstorms are possible. Epiphany frosts will last more than a week, the forecast weather will be below –20 ° C. But by the end of the month the weather will stabilize. The coldest January in the Urals was in 1969, when the minus exceeded –40 ° C. And so for six days!
The most controversial in terms of the forecast will be February. According to one version, it will be the coldest month of winter – down to –32 ° C at night. And you shouldn’t wait for early spring in the Urals. Other forecasters believe that in the second half of February, winter will begin to recede, and March will be warm at all.
