Solving a problem is easier if you know what caused it. In any case, if you know how and why cellulite is formed, you can, if not prevent its appearance, then at least more effectively deal with its manifestations.
With the advent of warm days, more and more women are beginning to actively fight the “orange peel” on the body – in other words, cellulite. How to win? Only knowing the causes and mechanisms of the appearance of cellulite.
From a medical term that means “inflammation of cells”, cellulite has long turned into almost a censure. Its presence on the female body, as advertising convinces us, is unacceptable. But is it all that scary? “Squeezing the skin on the thigh and seeing a couple of bumps, some women decide that they have cellulite and begin to fight it ardently. In fact, the cellular structure of fatty tissue is inherent in absolutely everyone. It’s just that in those whose skin is naturally thinner, the adipocyte bumps are more noticeable, ”says Philippe Blanchemaison, a doctor who specializes in vascular diseases and cellulite. This explains why many slender women cannot achieve perfectly even skin on the thighs, while others, who are fuller, do not know what cellulite is. “Much depends on the condition of the skin fibers and capillaries. The denser the former and the stronger the wall of the latter, the less likely cellulite is, the doctor emphasizes. But usually collagen comes up only in the context of the fight against aging and sagging. What is its connection with cellulite?

Prisoners of networks
The skin of our body in all areas has the same structure: the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous fatty tissue. The dermis, on the other hand, consists of collagen and elastin fibers, intricately intertwined with each other and smoothly passing into the third, fatty layer (the size of its cells – adipocytes – varies in different areas). The denser this network, the less likely that adipocytes will get stuck between its cells. After all, in fact, cellulite is fat cells pinched by fibers with impaired metabolism. “You can compare them with a finger tied with a tourniquet. He swells, hurts, cannot move. In the same way, adipocytes, compressed by skin fibers, are switched off from work. Changes begin in them, internal structures are damaged. This is where “-itis” appeared in the word “cellulite”: the suffix -itis in Latin words means “inflammation,” says biologist Inna Parkhomenko. When there are too many “off” cells, they begin to put pressure on the capillaries. This stage of cellulite is called edematous. And it also happens to be fibrous, in which conglomerates of fat cells are wrapped in connective tissue. True, doctors are sure that cellulite at any stage can be defeated (including surgically). Of course, this will require time, patience, discipline and, of course, money. But, as a rule, it all comes down to three things: balanced exercise, nutrition and skin care.

Against stagnation
More and more experts are recommending that intense strength training be avoided. Artificially inflated muscles do not make the figure more beautiful. And due to changes in blood circulation and the structure of the subcutaneous tissue in areas of excessive stress, fluid stagnation and edema occur, which leads to the formation and aggravation of cellulite. The female body is not adapted to lifting weights. Dance, yoga, pilates and even wrestling are the best allies. “And I think the best way to fight cellulite is swimming and water aerobics. Micro-massage of the skin with water relieves swelling and improves blood circulation,” says Nata Topchiashvili, creative cosmetologist at the Beauty Plaza clinic. It is very important to take care of stretching in order to avoid the same stagnation in the muscles.
Fighting provocateurs
The main allies of cellulite are salt, sugar, bread and fat. A jar of pickles, with its low calorie content, will increase weight by a couple of kilograms due to water retention and swelling. As well as a fresh bun, which will hold an equal amount of liquid to its volume. And permanent swelling is a sure way to cellulite. French nutritionist Madeleine Gesta recommends cucumber and celery juice and unsalted vegetable broth for quick drainage. And Mireille Guiliano, author of Why French Women Don’t Get Fat, sings an ode to unleavened leek soup. As for sugar, in addition to extra calories, glucose changes the structure of collagen, provoking and aggravating cellulite. With regard to fat, not everything is clear. Olive oil, cold sea fish and avocados are good for connective tissue. But do not get carried away: they are high in calories. And when frying, the oil loses its usefulness.

Pleasant incentives
Do not make excessive demands on cosmetics. The task of anti-cellulite products is to stimulate blood circulation, relieve swelling and strengthen connective tissue. Use them twice or even thrice a day (for example, even after a workout), when applying, perform an intensive massage, do peels regularly and do not forget about salon procedures. Another point that is forgotten is sunscreen. Ultraviolet sharply disrupts the structure of collagen, which means it provokes not only skin aging, but also cellulite. By protecting your skin on the beach, you not only save yourself from burns, but also prevent the appearance of the notorious “orange peel”.
