We select the colors of the foundation
Using makeup every day, we already automatically color the eyelashes and apply lipstick to the lips. Are we doing everything right? L’Oreal Paris make-up artist Svetlana Udalova spoke about the main makeup mistakes and showed how to fix them. The heading editor Natalya Udonova wrote down everything in detail.
The shade of the foundation matches the skin color.
Errors
1. Desire to give the skin a tanning tint: this should not be done, especially with light skin. Makeup will look unnatural and stand out against the background of light skin of the neck, ears, body and hands.
2. Desire to hide skin irregularities: a dark shade not only does not hide imperfections, but also attracts the attention of everyone around.
3. Wrong shade: artificial lighting in shops is often confusing.
To choose a foundation, apply it to the back of your hand or wrist and go outside. The tone of the cream should match the skin color.
How to use a dark foundation
With the help of a dark tone, you can sculpt the oval of the face. Darken them slightly on the cheekbones and the side of the forehead.
You can mix dark and light shades of foundation, the main thing is that the resulting shade merges with the skin color.
Apply the dark tone with a damp sponge to your face immediately after applying your moisturizer.
Note
Use a concealer to hide unevenness and redness. Apply it over your foundation. Beige and green shades will mask redness and pimples. A white concealer for a smoother, more radiant complexion.

Error
The desire to make the eyebrows look better than they really are often leads to the fact that after tinting they turn out to be disproportionate: wide at the beginning and sharply tapering towards the end. In fact, the tapering should be gradual, without abrupt transitions.
Eyebrow color should match hair color.
Exceptions
Bright blonde – eyebrows one tone darker than hair color.
Brunette – the shade of the eyebrows is half a tone softer than the color of the hair. Matching black eyebrows will look unnatural. If you want to darken your eyebrows, use ash shades.
Red, red hair – add a touch of copper to the natural eyebrow color. It is convenient to use eyeshadow for this purpose.
Note
If natural eyebrows are too faded, add a natural shade to them with a light brown pencil.

Improper use of black pencil
A black pencil, circled around the eyes with a pronounced line, visually reduces the eyes.
Correctly shaded eyeliner makes the eyes more expressive and wider.
Error
The black color visually reduces the eyes if the thin line of the eyeliner follows the ciliary contour. Such makeup is appropriate for those who have bulging or simply too large eyes.
How to use eyeliner correctly
If you have already done the eyeliner and realized that you were mistaken, take the applicator or just a cotton swab and blend the lines.
You can also use a pencil to make the eyeliner line slightly wider towards the edge of the eye on both the upper and lower eyelids. Be sure to shade a little.
You can add a similar shade (but not light!) To the eyeliner and get a haze effect. As we did in the picture number 2.
Note
When using a pencil, draw a line along the upper eyelid along the growth of the eyelashes, at first thin and, starting from the middle, gradually expanding it. After – along the lower eyelid under the line of eyelash growth from the outer corner of the eye to the inner one.

1. When applying mascara, you can slightly tilt your head back and cover your eyes.
2. You can put a piece of paper on your eyelids to prevent mascara from getting on your eyelids.
Error
1. The mascara is lumpy: this happens if you use a lot of mascara. It is better to first remove the excess from the brush with a napkin.
2. First, we applied mascara to the eyelashes, and then we applied shadows: in this case, the shadows will fall on the mascara and instantly make the makeup sloppy. The first step is to apply shadows, and then mascara.
3. Mascara got on the eyelids and ruined the makeup: so that mascara does not stain your eyelids, you can use any of the methods shown in the pictures. If you apply mascara while covering your eyes, it is very convenient to curl your eyelashes.
Note
You need to get the mascara out of the bottle with rotating movements. It is not necessary to remove excess mascara on the edge of the bottle, otherwise dried lumps will get inside.
Blush that is too bright gives an unnatural shade.
A moderate amount of blush gives the face a fresh look.
Error
From the very beginning, there is a lot of blush on the brush: to avoid brute-force, lightly dip the brush into the blush, blow off the excess, and only then apply to the cheekbones. Adding blush is always easier than trying to remove excess.
Apply blush with a brush in a circular motion from the apple (to make it appear, just smile – the protruding part of the cheekbone itself is the apple) to the temples. In this case, the intensity of the color should be reduced to a minimum.
How to choose a shade of blush
Dark skin – warm shades (peach, amber, beige and pink). Cold shades of blush on dark skin take on a bluish tint.
Light skin – delicate cool shades of pink and beige.
Note
If you find it difficult to choose a shade of blush, you can give preference to a neutral beige-pink without bright shine. Completely matte shades will look unnatural. A small amount of shine will give the skin a natural glow.
It is impossible to imperceptibly enlarge lips with make-up. But you can align the line.
The correct lipstick tone will perfectly highlight the beauty of the natural lip shape.
Error
The pencil line has gone beyond the natural lip line: any experiments of this kind will look comical. If you are not satisfied with the shape and size of the lips, the pencil will only help to correct, but not correct the situation.
For makeup, use a pencil that matches your lip color. This will suit any lipstick. If the lipstick turns out to be too light, you can slightly retouch the contour or completely refuse to use a pencil.
Note
The pencil allows you to:
keep lipstick on lips longer, especially long-lasting gel-based pencils;
correct lip contour if there is asymmetry.
