“We returned to hugging and shaking hands”: Protsenko told why the incidence of COVID-19 increased
The 45-year-old head physician of the clinic in Kommunarka is confident that the Russians themselves are to blame for the next round of the spread of the coronavirus.
Denis Protsenko, the chief physician of the hospital No. 40 in Kommunarka, spoke about the surge in the incidence of coronavirus infection in Moscow.
According to the doctor, several factors led to this.
“Of course, we all relaxed a little, stopped wearing masks, stopped observing strict hand hygiene, we again returned to ‘hugs’, to handshakes, to all those mechanisms that violate social distance and increase the risk of infection,” Denis Nikolayevich quotes RIA News.
Protsenko named another reason for the increase in the number of infected people – this is the beginning of the school year and the exit of people to offices from remote work.
“All this has led to an increase in the number of city residents who communicate in large teams with low compliance with wearing masks. This is what I was talking about – social distance. All this together gave us what we were expecting with tension, ”the doctor said.
Protsenko confirmed that a lot of infected people are admitted to the hospital in Kommunarka.
“Our hospital now has 89 patients in the intensive care unit, 37 of them are on invasive artificial ventilation, the rest are either on high-flow oxygen or on non-invasive mask ventilation. We have received 126 people per day, which is quite a lot, ”the doctor said.
In Russia, over the past day, another 9 infected with coronavirus have been identified. In Moscow – 412 2 cases, this is a maximum of more than four months (from May 704).
