We paint a chest of drawers with our own hands

Our master class will help turn an old dilapidated chest of drawers into the main character of your interior.

This chest of drawers has long lost its legs. But the body, as well as the four drawers and a compartment with a hinged door, were in good condition.

For work you will need: several posters of different sizes, white and gold acrylic paint, craquelure varnish, fine-grained sandpaper, four wheels, PVA glue, roller, brush, drill, small wrench, bolts and nuts.

  • Photo 3. The dresser is treated with fine-grained sandpaper. After that, mark and make holes for the four wheels.
  • Photo 4. Using a small wrench, screws and nuts, screw the wheels to the designated locations.
  • Photo 5. Using a roller, white acrylic paint is applied to the chest of drawers. It is also necessary to carefully work out all the retractable elements.

  • Photo 6. The chest of drawers is covered with craquelure varnish. After it dries, “cracks” will appear on the surface.
  • Photo 7. PVA glue is applied to the back of the poster and left for a while to soak the paper.
  • Photo 8. The poster is glued to the door. The paper is carefully smoothed so that no air bubbles and wrinkles remain.

  • Photo 9. To achieve the effect of “scuffed”, the poster and the chest of drawers in arbitrary places are treated with sandpaper.
  • Photo 10-11. Moistening the roller in gold paint, they tint the edges, doors and the top of the chest of drawers. The work has been completed.
