Last year, for the second time, we took a closer look at the health of the inhabitants of our country. Over 341 people took part in our survey. Poles. Based on the answers provided, we found out that 56 percent. women and 62 percent. of men assess their health as good or very good. However, does our lifestyle really indicate this? We checked.

Health of Poles – how do we evaluate it ourselves? Young people are a surprise
Although it has become commonplace that as a nation we like to complain, the results of the Polish National Health Test 2021 show that in some situations it is the other way around. More than half of the respondents, when asked how they assess their health condition, answered “good” or even “very good”.
Men were more willing to talk about their health (62%), but the majority of women also assessed it positively (56%).
When it comes to the division by age, young people (between 18 and 24) are a big surprise here. They are the most numerous group that described their health condition as bad or very bad. It is also the only age group in which this result worsened between 2020 and 2021 (from 8 to 10%).
How do we care for physical health? Physical activity is gaining popularity
Personal feelings are one thing, and facts are another. General health is influenced by many factors, including, for example, lifestyle, inherent in physical activity. Since the National Health Test of Poles 2020, a lot has changed in this matter in a positive way. Then as much as 50 percent. adult citizens who took part in the survey admitted that they do not play sports at all. In 2021, there were fewer such respondents – which is pleasing – (47%). However, this is still a very high number. And we must remember that physical activity reduces the risk of serious civilization diseases, such as overweight and obesity, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

The most popular form of activity among Poles is walking. The NTZP 2021 shows that 35 percent do it. respondents. There is only time to improve on this issue. The respondents most often walk less than 30 minutes a day, while according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, we should do at least 8 each day. steps (which takes about 80 minutes).
Necessary regeneration. A large number of Poles sleep too short
The overall condition of the body is also greatly influenced by sleep, which is the time necessary to regenerate after a day of activity. When we sleep too little, the body is unable to fully charge the battery, which can result in headaches, decreased concentration, irritability, decreased immunity, and in the long run also diseases. For full regeneration, we need at least seven hours of sleep each day. Meanwhile, over 30 percent. Poles sleep shorter.
It is not only too short sleep that prevents us from regenerating. A relatively large percentage of respondents also have problems with insomnia. Difficulties in falling asleep at least several times a month have 20 percent. people who took part in the survey.
Chronic ailments and diseases of Poles [LIST]
Despite the fact that so many of us rate our health highly, we still suffer from various ailments. We most often complain of back pain (32%), work exhaustion (27%), daytime sleepiness (22%) or headache (20%).
Some of the respondents suffer from chronic diseases, the most common of which are hypertension (25%), as well as asthma or allergy (19%).
Preventive examinations – not all Poles use them
The easiest way to check what is our health is by regular diagnostic tests. Among the most basic are blood counts and urine tests, which we should perform at least once a year.
However, as NTZP 2021 shows, many Poles visit the infirmary too rarely. As much as 47 percent. of respondents for at least 12 months have not had their blood tested, and 61 percent. did not urinate for testing. A significant percentage of respondents did not control their blood sugar or cholesterol levels.
