PSYchology

Partners who often refer to themselves as “we” are more successful than others in resolving disagreements in a relationship.

Psychologists from the University of California at Berkeley (USA) studied 15-minute «hot» disputes of 154 married couples and saw that those who say «we», «us», «our» more often than others experience less stress and are generally more positive (heart rate and blood pressure were recorded). Frequent «I» and «you», on the contrary, emphasized alienation. In such couples, the level of stress and dissatisfaction with family life turned out to be very high. According to psychologist Benjamin Seider, «we» is said by those who feel confident in each other, who have a sense of team and a willingness to solve problems together. So if one day «We’ll do it» changes to «What did you decide?» It’s worth discussing it with each other.
