Body hair removal with hot wax is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures. Yves Rocher cosmetologist Elena Shkalova answers the most important questions related to hair removal.

1. What kind of wax is used?

Epilation of different parts of the body of the master is done with different types of wax. For example, for the bikini area, it is more viscous, and is removed exclusively by hand. This allows the master to control the force and effectively treat even the most delicate areas. But for the hands and feet, the wax is not so thick, and the beautician uses strips of paper to remove unwanted hair.

2. How much is enough?

Usually two to three weeks. Of course, it depends on the individual hormonal background – someone’s skin can remain smooth for a whole month. But I recommend that all clients keep track of the phases of the moon. Epilation is best done on a waning moon – so the hair will grow more slowly.

3. What rules should be followed before the procedure?

  • The minimum length of hair with which you can do epilation is from 2 to 5 millimeters. If you have already done this procedure before, then 2-3 mm will be enough. And if before that you removed hair with a razor, then 5 mm.
  • Do not come to epilate the day before your vacation or immediately before an important date. Ideally, three days should elapse between the procedure and the first day in the sun.
  • After the holidays, do not rush to run to the beautician – epilation on tanned skin can cause severe irritation, and the tan after it will look uneven.
  • Before going to the salon, do a good exfoliation of the areas that you want to epilate. But refrain from using body cream and oil – this will only interfere with the master.

4. What rules should be observed after the procedure?

  • Try not to come to the epilation of the legs in skinny jeans, and to the epilation of the bikini zone – in tight lace underwear. This will create additional friction and will irritate sensitive skin after the procedure. Choose cotton and seamless underwear, as well as pants and dresses made from natural materials.
  • After epilation, try not to sunbathe for 3-4 days, and then do not forget about a cream with a high sun protection factor. Otherwise, it can lead to burns and age spots.
  • As much as you’d like to jump into the shower at the end of the day, try not to wet the treated areas for at least a few hours. And also put off deodorant for a day – it will irritate delicate skin.

5. How to avoid ingrown hairs?

Unfortunately, no one is immune from this. During epilation, the hair duct is destroyed, and the weakened hair simply does not break out. The only way to prevent this problem is to regularly exfoliate (exfoliate) once or twice a week. You can start as early as the fifth day after the procedure.

6. Can I do my own waxing?

I do not recommend this to my clients. During the procedure, it is not so much the wax that is important as the technique of the master. Pulling the strip incorrectly, or even setting the wrong angle of separation, can cause bruising, bruising, and even burns. And also do not forget that in the area of uXNUMXbuXNUMXbthe armpits and bikini there are lymph nodes that an inexperienced beginner can injure. Women often come to me with a request to correct the consequences of home hair removal.
