Bikini waxing has long been a routine procedure for women seeking a flawless appearance. It is especially important to remove unwanted vegetation in the bikini area in the summer, during the bathing season, but more and more women decide to depilate the intimate area throughout the year: it is hygienic, sexy, and lately it is also very fashionable.

Waxing, or waxing, is considered the most suitable for delicate areas. This method is more effective than shaving and depilatory creams: unlike a machine, waxing solves the problem of unwanted vegetation for at least two weeks, and the growing hairs do not become hard and prickly. Wax is less aggressive to the skin than depilatory cream, less likely to cause allergies and irritation.

Waxing is a rather unpleasant procedure, however, compared to using electric epilators, painful sensations are much less. Unlike shugaring (hair removal with thick sugar syrup), waxing does not cause bruising or damage to the skin.

If you carry out the waxing procedure regularly, the amount of hair is noticeably reduced, and the remaining hair becomes softer and thinner.

When compared with salon methods of hair removal (laser, electric and photo hair removal), waxing gives a less lasting effect, but it is much cheaper. In addition, waxing with the help can be done at home – there are special kits for “cold” wax depilation on sale.

Hot wax is best for depilating the bikini area. It is heated in special wax melters to a temperature of 45–55 ° C, and then applied to the areas covered with hair with a spatula. When the wax hardens a little, turning into a dense plastic mass, it is quickly removed along with the hair.

Before waxing, the skin must be prepared by treating it with a special composition that cleans the skin, which has an anesthetic and antiseptic effect. After hair removal, a preparation is applied to the depilated areas to soothe the skin and relieve inflammation.

Waxing with hot wax is a salon procedure, you should not try to perform it yourself – firstly, this requires a special apparatus for melting wax, and secondly, there is a great danger of overheating the composition and getting burns

In addition, depilating the bikini area on your own is not always convenient.

The composition of wax for hot epilation contains resins and vegetable oils, the mixture adheres well to the skin, and as it cools, it easily separates from it, capturing even the smallest hairs. The first procedures are often painful, but on subsequent visits to the salon, the discomfort will become weaker.

Bikini waxing: styles and options

It is customary to distinguish several styles of depilation of the bikini area, depending on how much vegetation is subject to merciless removal:

  • bikini depilation proper
  • french style
  • brazilian style
  • Hollywood style (“Hollywood”), or deep bikini

Bikini depilation involves the preservation of most of the natural vegetation – only the hair that is visible when putting on a swimsuit is removed.

French depilation is the removal of all hair, except for a narrow (no more than 4 centimeters) vertical strip on the pubis

The vegetation in the perianal region and on the buttocks remains intact.

Brazilian depilation style requires almost complete hair removal, including on the labia and in the anus, leaving only a narrow strip on the pubis.

If you choose a Hollywood style (deep bikini), get ready to completely remove all hair from the genitals, buttocks and anus. Brazilian and Hollywood styles are sometimes confused, therefore, when discussing the procedure with the master, be sure to specify how much vegetation you would like to remove.

It is not worth starting with a complete depilation, for the first time it is better to limit yourself to ordinary bikini depilation, and then, when the skin gets used to it, you can decide on a more radical option

Bikini design provides for the removal of pubic hair in the form of a pattern that you can choose from the catalog or offer yourself. In this case, the hair is cut, and then the wax is applied to the areas that are supposed to be cleaned of vegetation. The remaining hair can be dyed and even decorated with rhinestones or sparkles.

Contraindications and recommendations

Waxing has few contraindications – it is not recommended to do it if there are moles or warts in the hair removal area, for skin or infectious diseases, as well as during pregnancy, especially if the procedure is supposed to be carried out for the first time.

You can not carry out depilation of intimate areas during menstruation, it is better to plan a visit to the salon soon after the end of menstruation, at this time pain sensitivity is reduced.

You should not plan the waxing procedure before an important event for you, it is better to carry it out a few days before the redness and soreness go away.

Women are often embarrassed to depilate the bikini area in the salon, however, the natural shyness in such situations can serve as an argument in favor of choosing a reputable salon with a good reputation; usually in such places there are professionals who will help the client to relax before the procedure and not feel uncomfortable.

It is not recommended to take a hot bath or shower just before depilation – this will increase the sensitivity of the skin. In the first days after waxing, you should avoid visiting the solarium or the beach, wear linen made from natural fabrics, and change trousers and jeans to dresses and skirts so as not to chafe the depilated areas.
