Water heater Termex: how to choose a flow-through, accumulative

The Italian company Thermex specializes in the production of electric boilers and steadily holds the laurels of the market leader. The indisputable advantage of Termex water heaters is their adaptation to Russian conditions. Models for a domestic buyer are produced at factories located in the Russian Federation.

Price range

The cost of the boiler depends on the technical characteristics of the tank:

  • material;
  • forms;
  • volume.

The minimum price of a water heater with a steel tank is 6 rubles, from stainless steel – from 000 rubles. (round) and from 9 rubles. (flat). The cost of a combined boiler is 000-12 rubles.

Termex devices are among the top three electric boilers, combined-type models are second only to Drazice heaters in the demand rating. And most importantly, Thermex products have the best value for money.

Design features

The Italian company produces two types of water heaters – storage and flow. Distinctive features of their device:

  • silver heat electric heater Silverheat – resistance to scale and microbes;
  • inside the tank is covered with bioglass porcelain (BIO-GLASSLINED) – the tank is protected from damage, and the water remains fresh;
  • there is a safety shutdown;
  • steel case, except for boilers 5-15 l – they have plastic;
  • in the manufacture of tanks, a special non-magnetic stainless steel with 18% chromium and 10% nickel is used.

Why Choose Thermex

  • Quality and long life. The manufacturer abandoned the enameled coating of tanks in favor of bioglass porcelain, which prevents corrosion and scale formation. The gap between the inner tank and the body is filled with polyurethane foam, so the water does not cool down.
  • Scale protection – built-in magnesium anode. According to the manufacturer’s recommendations, it should be changed annually. You can do it yourself (read “What is a magnesium anode for a water heater”).
  • Easy installation – wiring diagram included. Anyone can connect the boiler to the water supply, especially after the advice from our article “Installing a water heater with your own hands.”
  • A large assortment. The model is selected according to needs: the more often the use and the higher the consumption, the larger the volume of the tank. If the boiler is used as a backup alternative to centralized water supply, 60 liters will suffice.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

The company took into account the needs of consumers:

  • Various use cases. At one point in time, you just need to wash your hands, at another – take a bath. It happens that water is needed at several points at the same time. For different conditions, you can choose a model with the optimal volume – from 10 liters to 100 liters or more; for one or more points of water intake.
  • Comfortable temperature. In the Termex devices, you can set it at the required mark.
  • So that each family member can choose the desired water temperature and the optimal operating mode, a special control panel is provided.
  • The company has 350 service centers in Russia. This is convenient for scheduled maintenance: replacement of the anode, heating elements, thermostats, tank flushing, etc.
  • The choice of power – the heating rate depends on it. The manufacturer offers options: from 1,5 to 6 kW. Water heaters are protected from temperature fluctuations in the network and ingress of ice water.
  • Different water circulates in domestic water supply networks. A heating element with a silver coating improves its quality.

Choosing a storage water heater

A universal solution for a private house. Water, accumulating in the tank, is heated by a heating element. Pros:

  • Economical, low power consumption. Most models have an energy-saving mode.
  • The average power is 2 kW, this allows you not to worry about wiring.
  • Works on several points at the same time.

Disadvantages:

  • To heat water, you need to turn on the boiler in advance.
  • The volume of the tank is fixed, so you have to wait until the next portion is heated. When choosing the volume of the tank, you need to consider the needs of the family. For one person, 50 liters is enough, for a family of 3 you need a tank of at least 80 liters.
  • To maintain a constant water temperature, you have to consume electricity.
  • Maintenance needs to be done periodically.

For storage boilers, depending on the installation method, there are:

  • vertical type of fastening;
  • horizontal.

Housing design:

  • round or flat;
  • narrow or wide.

How to choose displacement

The volume of the tank is chosen taking into account the number of users and water intake points. You need to focus on the following standards:

  • If the device will only work for washing hands and dishes, then a tank of 10 or 15 liters will suffice.
  • To provide all the needs of one person (shower, bath, etc.), a tank of 30 liters is enough.
  • A small family (2-3 people) will need a 50-80 liter heater.
  • It is better for a large family (4-5 people) to have a 100-liter boiler.

Termex produces heaters with two types of tanks:

  • made of stainless steel;
  • steel with bioglass porcelain.

The choice of instantaneous water heater

Flow boilers do not have a storage tank – the water heats up almost instantly, moving through a narrow pipe. The heating element is a heating element or an uninsulated spiral with scale protection.

Advantages:

  • High power with low energy consumption. The flow principle is good because the device does not need to hold the set temperature for a long time, it works when heated water is required.
  • A flow type heater is used for any volume – it is not limited by the capacity of the tank, as in storage type devices.
  • More compact, takes up little space.
  • Cheaper than storage analogues.

Disadvantages:

  • The non-pressure type flow heater serves only one water intake point. Pressure models can provide several points with heated water at once, but they need to create a certain pressure in the system.
  • To heat large volumes of water, a power of at least 8-12 kW is needed.

The flow heater is selected according to the needs:

  • Washing – 1,8-2 l / min; 3-6 kW.
  • Shower – 4 l / min; 7 kW or more.
  • Combined models – from 4 l / min; from 8 kW.

Combined boilers – COMBI series

Along with flow and storage electric heaters, Termex produces boilers for indirect heating. Their work is based on the intake of heat from heating systems. The devices are equipped with powerful heat exchangers. An electric heating element is provided for operation in the summer.

Such boilers are represented by only one series – COMBI (80-300 liters).

Installation and Connection

Installation depends on the type of heater. Wall models are mounted near the water supply. It is necessary to install the device above the water supply pipes, otherwise the condensate formed on them will drip onto the heater. It is recommended to tie into the water supply using metal-plastic hoses – they are elastic and do not break when bent.

Connecting the device to the network, select the cross section of the power wire. A 6 kW heater requires a 2,5 mm² wire. A smaller cable will cause malfunctions. To protect against short circuits, an appropriate machine is installed – its rating is indicated in the instructions. Be sure to organize grounding – from a wire that exceeds the cross section of the supply cable.

Important! The ground wire must not be connected to the neutral wire, the electrical circuit will not work.

Thermex rulers

They differ in shape, size, control principle and power.

  • FLAT TOUCH. All models are made in the form of a parallelepiped. Corners are rounded to save space. The body and reservoir are polished stainless steel. Volume – up to 100 liters. Equipped with an LSD display.
  • ROUND PLUS. Round form. The tank and body elements are stainless steel. Volume – 30-100 l in wall-mounted (horizontal and vertical). 200-300 l – floor.

For a summer residence, we bought a Termex indirect heating boiler for 100 liters. At the end of the heating season, we switch to electric heating. Even when all the taps are open, there is no interruption in hot water. One washes, the second washes the dishes – everyone has enough. Plus, it works quietly. Economical.

Bought Thermex IF 50-F for a family of two. 50 liters is enough. Apparatus for 2 kW. Heats water up to 70 degrees. Changing the temperature is easy. To save money, we do less. Hot water is enough for one person to take a bath or two in the shower.

I decided to save money and bought a budget Termex 50 S. Not happy. The price is affordable, yes. But for 4 people it is not enough for us. The heating element was cleaned twice from scale.

When choosing a Termex heater, match the needs of your family with the capabilities of specific models, and then your house will be provided with hot water all year round. The main cost factors for Thermex boilers are volume and performance. Not only the price, but also the service life depends on the material of the tank.
